Looks great! you are one lucky guy! Yonkers320is 04-07-2004, 12:34 PM looks awesome. now you gotta make a video... blitzed310 04-07-2004, 12:59 PM Awsome, looks like that S14 was from the factory, too bad they wernt, then we'd be stuffing V8's for more power... jbob 04-07-2004, 03:14 PM awesome!!! G.J. Dixon 04-07-2004, 06:12 PM Looks Great!! :redspot :buttrock What coolant expansion tank are you using? SDbboy 04-07-2004, 06:15 PM Beautiful car you have there eurospec1. Nice to see people using the S14, its a great little engine, way ahead of its time. eurospec1 04-08-2004, 01:38 AM Hey thanks guys, it was alot of work but defenetily worth it in the end! the power is great! and it came out really good, like you said it looks like BMW did it. I am very happy with the results Club racer, the expansion tank is from an Alfa Romeo 33, fits perfectly with the windhshield wiper bottle, now i just gotta buy a new wiper bottle and it will be perfect! Mpowered02 04-09-2004, 09:45 AM Looks great in that engine bay Eurospec1. I have an S14 that I am going to rebuild and swap into the '72 2002 that i'm restoring. Gotta love the fact that the S14 is based off of the M10 block! For the swap into the E21, did you have to do oil pan modifications to get it to fit into the car like is necessary for the 2002? Just curious... Anyway, beautiful car....i'll bet that thing rocks! :buttrock bbg325is 04-09-2004, 01:44 PM Oh God that is sweet! Molto bella! Leif E. Bronn 04-09-2004, 03:35 PM WOW!! That looks great. Have fun with it! G.J. Dixon 04-09-2004, 05:38 PM I have an S14 that I am going to rebuild and swap into the '72 2002 that i'm restoring. Gotta love the fact that the S14 is based off of the M10 block! For the swap into the E21, did you have to do oil pan modifications to get it to fit into the car like is necessary for the 2002? Just curious... Since the S14 Engine is based off the M10 block just about everything fits onto that block from the M10. Which means that you can use the Oil Pan from a 2002 or E21. vibranthenarot 04-10-2004, 04:14 AM Wireing wise, what does an s14 swap entail? I'm not worried about the mounting of engine and trans, I'm more worried about getting an engine I've paid 5k for to fire and still have blinkers, I figure your the guy to talk to eurospec, BTW your car looks fabulous, positively envyable. Any info. would be apreciated, have recieved none so far on the subject, thanks in advance. eurospec1 04-10-2004, 05:22 AM Well, heres a basic rundown on the problem areas for this swap. Club racer is right, just use the m10 oil pan, fits with no mods transmission, everyone said that the getrag 265 would not fit in the e21 without cuttiong the tunnel, but it went in with no prob, for the 2002 though yo will have to cut the tunnel driveshaft, take two, cut them up and make one, harder then it sounds! wiring, ill be honest, i had help from a very good electrician, so pretty much all i did was what he told me to do, sorry not much help here! thanks for all the compliments, finally all the work is paying off, with this engine, it dynoed at about 240 at the crank, the car hauls! One more thing i was wondering, since this is the 2 liter s14 from the 320is (italian m3), i wonder if when i bring this car back to the states next year if ill have the only engine like this in the states? ive never heard of another, at least not on the net! G.J. Dixon 04-10-2004, 06:57 AM One more thing i was wondering, since this is the 2 liter s14 from the 320is (italian m3), i wonder if when i bring this car back to the states next year if ill have the only engine like this in the states? ive never heard of another, at least not on the net! Nope you won't be the only one! http://www.davidmcintyre.org/the320.html This is probably the most insane E21 that's still racing. eurospec1 04-11-2004, 07:33 AM what i meant was, will i be the only one running the 2.0 liter s14? since there were very few made, and only for italy in portugal, did any others make it to the states? Is dave using the e30 320is motor? G.J. Dixon 04-11-2004, 09:58 AM what i meant was, will i be the only one running the 2.0 liter s14? since there were very few made, and only for italy in portugal, did any others make it to the states? Is dave using the e30 320is motor? The engine was originally a eurospec 2.0 liter S14. I'm not sure what the engine actually came out of though, I assume it was an E30 320i engine. e21pilot 04-16-2004, 02:48 PM Nope you won't be the only one! http://www.davidmcintyre.org/the320.html This is probably the most insane E21 that's still racing. He sold that car but I forgot who he sold it to. Oh well, there goes another great E21 into obscurity. G.J. Dixon 04-16-2004, 05:29 PM He sold that car but I forgot who he sold it to. Oh well, there goes another great E21 into obscurity. Hmm? When did Dave sell that car? The last I saw his motor was being rebuilt a couple months ago at VAC Motorsports and spoke to him around then. He never mentioned anything about selling the car? e21pilot 04-16-2004, 09:27 PM Hmm? When did Dave sell that car? The last I saw his motor was being rebuilt a couple months ago at VAC Motorsports and spoke to him around then. He never mentioned anything about selling the car? He made an upate to the website saying he sold it, maybe you could ask him what's up? jbob 04-17-2004, 02:38 AM whoa...u sure ur not mixing up bob breed selling his race e21? TheNeek 04-20-2004, 02:57 AM DAVE DID NOT SELL THAT CAR. You're thinking of Bob Bread. davidmcintyre 05-24-2004, 01:53 AM The engine was originally a eurospec 2.0 liter S14. I'm not sure what the engine actually came out of though, I assume it was an E30 320i engine. My engine started with a stock 2.3 liter S14 debored to 2.16 liters. -Dave davidmcintyre 05-24-2004, 01:55 AM He made an upate to the website saying he sold it, maybe you could ask him what's up? No, I still have my car and it's never been for sale. I'll just keep racing it until I finally crash it bad enough to total it. -Dave G.J. Dixon 05-24-2004, 06:44 AM My engine started with a stock 2.3 liter S14 debored to 2.16 liters. -Dave What's up David, This is G.J. How's it going? Long time no speak! Welcome to Bimmerforums! :D I didn't realize that your engine was debored. I had thought about that, but figured it would have been easier for you to get the Euro engine, instead of going through all that work. eurospec1 05-24-2004, 09:02 AM Well so who knows then, i could possibly have the italion 2.0 liter s14 in the US? Taiko 05-24-2004, 01:58 PM Very nice.. I remember seeing your car cardomain before I registered here, I was very impressed before it had the S14! eurospec1 05-25-2004, 06:43 AM Thanks man, i appreciate it! |
