Hey guys,

Still have 1 last question pertaining to my engine swap. As of yet i havent gotten the speedo working. Obviously the e30 speedo was electronic, so the s14 trannt didnt have the mechanical drive on it. Now someone told me that i can install one in the new tranny, and there is a removable blank off plug where it should go, but the hole is bigger then the drive unit off my original e21 5 speed. is there a drive mechanism off a different bmw that will fit? Or any other ideas to make this work? Please check into this for me, i relly want to post a pic of my e21 220kph speedo pegged with the tach barried at 7500rpm! :buttrock

depends on the transmission you have. Since most S14s were known to be mated to the Getrag 265 either CR or OD it is easy to adapt the speedo gear to the 265. Here (http://hem.passagen.se/m2002tii/tech/tips/speedo_on_tranny/index.htm) is the link explaining how it is done.

The 2 easy ways to fix this problem is to either use the E21 tranny with the speedo cable, or since you are using the 265, just get a speedo from a late e30 and replace it with the one you are using now.

Club racer,

I dont understand how the e30 speedo could work, there is no sensor in the car for the speedo now, isnt the e30 speedo sensor electronic, and on the rear end?

I forget who makes the kit, its either Korman: www.kormanfastbmw.com or Ireland Engineering: www.bmw2002.com

The kit comes with a flywheel that bolts to the half shafts and all the necessary hardware and wiring to make the kit work.
