Anyone have one of these remote start/2 way pager alarms installed on their M3? I'm curious who installed it for you, and if all the functions work correctly? Is your car SMG or 6 speed? About how much should one expect to pay for this install? Thanks :redspot

Not sure about SMG, but a good installer will most likely not install a remote start alarm in a manual.

The Viper 791x is basically the same alarm as the Clifford 3.5x. DEI is the parent company and the clifford is actually a bit more high end. The Clifford 3.5 can be had for ~$500 installed at Bestbuy. If you go to some other car shop, you might end up paying a bit more.

The alarms themselves can be bought for around $200 on ebay, but don't think it is worth it. If you bring an alarm into a shop, they will charge much more for install so your savings will be reduced. Also, if bought authorized, these alarms come with a lifetime warranty, which would come in handy since the remotes go for about a $100 each. If you buy the alarm over the internet and bring it to a shop, you lose the warranty.
