View Full Version : What wax should I use? 6i9 04-04-2004, 01:03 PM I might get that Mr. Clean flourine wash stuff. What else do you think I need? BabyM 04-04-2004, 01:40 PM I like Blitz wax (pure carnauba) Check out David's parked thread for other suggestions. abakos 04-04-2004, 10:41 PM S100 Paste Wax...available at Harley dealers. Same as P21S in a different package. Mantic 04-04-2004, 11:24 PM I just made the switch from s100 SEC and s100 carnuba to the Wolfgang twins and am very happy. JeroenE36 04-07-2004, 05:20 AM Einszett Glanz Wax is great imo. Looks great, very easy to use and lasts quite some time:) WhiteE30 04-07-2004, 05:06 PM I like Blitz wax (pure carnauba) Check out David's parked thread for other suggestions. There is no pure carnuba. Wax manufacturers say that just to sell their product. All carnuba waxes have to have other things in them (petroleum distilates...) to soften the carnuba. Carnuba in it's purest form is a brick. I personally have two favorite wax systems. Zymol and p21s. The zymol is a 3 step process and the p21s is a 2 step. But between the two I'd have to go with the p21s. The cleaner wax isn't dusty and both waxes are extremely easy to apply and take off. I break out the zymol when I detail higher end exotics so I can charge the owner a little extra, and the zymol doesn't last as long so I have to keep going back (repeat customers). Also, check out www.griotsgarage.com for other things you'll need. Applicator pads, microfiber towels etc etc etc. Mantic 04-07-2004, 05:18 PM There aren't too many things from Griots that i would buy. For the most parts it's over priced, is available else where without the Griots mark up, or just isn't a very good product. There are a few things they have that are hard to find anywhere else but most people don't need that stuff anyway. For wax application i use the foam Meguiars pads. You can get them just about anywhere: Wal*Mart, AutoZone, Pepboys, Advanced Auto, etc... So far the best MF towels i've used I get from www.pakshak.com . Places I buy most of my detailing products are www.autogeek.net , www.pakshack.com , and www.topoftheline.com . BabyM 04-07-2004, 05:43 PM There is no pure carnuba. Wax manufacturers say that just to sell their product. "Pure carnauba" as opposed to "some carnauba mixed in with other kinds of wax", not "We went to Brazil and sucked the wax out of those leaves and stuck it straight into a can." Also, it's 'carnauba' not 'carnuba' Welcome to Bimmerforums if no one else has said so  wmarcel 04-07-2004, 06:01 PM I like Mother's or Meguiar's. Kyle K. 04-07-2004, 08:14 PM "Pure carnauba" as opposed to "some carnauba mixed in with other kinds of wax", not "We went to Brazil and sucked the wax out of those leaves and stuck it straight into a can." Also, it's 'carnauba' not 'carnuba' Welcome to Bimmerforums if no one else has said so  Actually, most waxes called "pure carnubas" still have other waxes in them as well. P21S for example has an amount of beeswax in it. When most people refer to a "pure carnuba" they are referring to a wax that has no cleaners in it. Gunslinger 04-07-2004, 09:43 PM Poorboy's EX (after Poorboy's Polish) available from http://www.poorboysworld.com I used to use the Meguiar's #7 polish followed by their #26 wax. If you can't wait a few days for mailorder, the Meguiar's is available at Autozone. Kitch 04-08-2004, 09:53 AM Another P21S user here. In the past I used 3M. But the ease of use of P21S and the shine alone are worth the switch. Who knows how long the wax is gonna last. Not a major issue if its easy to use. count_schemula 04-08-2004, 11:05 AM Habit mostly, but I love Mother's Pure Carnuba in the round red tin. Thick paste you need to work with a damp rag. I just tried some liquid carnuba, and, it sucked. Lasted about 30 minutes. Kyle K. 04-08-2004, 11:08 AM I just realized I haven't contributed my opinion yet. :az: Anyway, I love S100 (same as P21S), its a lot easier to use than most "pure" carnubas in both application and removal, AND it doesn't stain plastic trims, something that certainly can't be said abou Blitz. VANCE 04-08-2004, 01:58 PM i use and love the p21s...it is easy on and easy off..and supposedly it wont turn your you black mouldings white if you get some on there. WhiteE30 04-08-2004, 02:44 PM It doesn't. I've accidentally done that. But you would have to clean it off of the A pillars if you get some on there. If there's a leather conditioner as good as the one from griot's, I'd like to know where you got it. I got a f355 ferrari to detail this weekend and the interior is all leather. Here are my results with Connolly cleaner and conditioner http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum//showthread.php?t=195657 . It is the choice of Rolls Royce, Jaguar, and Ferrari for their leather care. I bought the kit from www.autogeek.net . LittleBlueBMW 04-10-2004, 01:18 AM for warmer weather, Zymol Carbon and other apps Par-K product from BMW detailing department (not sold commercially). 325FLY 04-10-2004, 11:48 AM If you havent tried it yet you must try WOLFGANG. It is truly amazing. I have been using Pinnacle for years and now I use Wolfgang sealant and a layer of Pinnalce on top of that...SWEET! :D Estoril ART 04-10-2004, 07:34 PM Einszett Glanz Wax is great imo. Looks great, very easy to use and lasts quite some time:) Is the Glanz wax a synthetic? Any pics? Oh, and I use S100. IMAGE&STYLE 04-11-2004, 12:51 AM S100 Best bang for the buck! $14.95 Easy to apply, easy to remove! Goes on clear, no 'white' flakey' reduce |
