Ok,

I have had the car for about a year, and I havent waxed it yet. I want to clay bar it and all that crap. It's a 95 Avus Blue M3.

What should I use. I know nothing about this stuff, as I used to be exclusive liquid glass guy

The Detailing 101 thread at the top of the page has a lot of recommendations. As far as a full exterior detail on Avus, I'd say go with the Mothers claybar kit, some 3m SMR for dark colored cars, and S100 paste wax to top it off. But of course there are an infinite number of quality combos you can use... :dunno

Either the Mother's claybar or the Zaino claybar are good. If you aren't into waxing all that often then I would go with Zaino or another sealant as they last a lot longer than traditional carnauba waxes.

Take it to a detailing shop and pay the $150. Clay bars are not something to experiment with on a dark car. This way you can drop it off, go home and do whatever and pick up a clean car.

I detail cars on weekends as a way to make extra cash. The best clay bar I've ever used is made by 3M. Waxing, I'd suggest a 2 or 3 step process. Zymol is a very good 3 step consisting of wash, cleaner wax, and wax. The only thing I don't like about Zymol is the cleaner wax is harder than some to get off and it's dusty. The wax actually bonds with the paint. Though Zymol only lasts about 2 or 3 months, it's a very good system...but expensive. My personal faavorite is the P21S system. This is a 2 step. The cleaner wax is not dusty and is very easy to take off the paint. This system was rated #1 in luster, how easy it is to use, and how long it lasts. Just thought I'd give you some brief information. If you have any other detailing question, just ask.
