My 1980 320is was originaly bought by Mike Botts the lead signer of the 70's rock band BREAD. Mike botts bought the car from Califorina and owned it for 16 years. sold the car to a older women. The car found it self in the hands of a mad husband. the husband of the 2nd owner the "old lady" put sugar in the fuel tank. Damaged the engine and many fuel related parts. the Old Ladys father spend $4,000 repairing the car and then she bought a new bmw. a young guy then bought the car from her and raced it up and down a runway for 4 years then i bought it for $700.00 whats your story

lol.....oh ok, now ur screen name makes sense. :)

my 81 was purchased brand new by my parents in Seattle, a few years later it went down to the Bay Area, and several years after that it found its way to AZ....always garaged & was only used as a weekend car for the first 14-15 years of it's life.

My 77 320,

was purchased new in 1976, in catania sicily, by a younger guy at the time. car was never driven much, and eventually becamy solely at weekend/track car. Original owner modified the m10 with the dual dellorto sidedrafts and suspension, i bough the car from him, now an old man, 1 year ago for 1400 euro, ( at the time 1200 dollars). he sold it to me becouse he didnt have the energy to keep up to project cars, so he kept his 2002tii. Once i bought the car the frankenstiening began, and the story continues.....

In 1982 my uncle bought this 320i (copying his brother who had bought a 1980 320i). After they graduated from college both moved to South America and left their cars in Florida with my grandfather. I received one for my birthday (with 120k mi) and my sister will receive the other when she turns 16 over the summer.

I honestly don't know much about my car's history, or how much of it is accurate. But the dude who sold it to me gave me this much of a summation:

His father had bought the car (new I assume) and had used it as a weekender type car. It sat around mostly in San Diego getting surface rust. His father had become an old man and apperently died, and left the car to his wife. The wife had no reason to keep the car, so she gave it to her son(the guy I bought it from). The son didn't need the car, he already had an 83 Porche 911 and a Caddy to drive around in, so he decided he'd sell it. I picked it up for 1,500, which I know now is way to much for a 320i. At the time it had 80,500 miles on it, now it's 86,2xx. I've had the car for little over a year now.

My car was beat to shit by it's previous owners, and I'll admit I haven't been all that kind to it myself. I'm in the process of repairing, restoring, and modifing where I see fit, or need to. The entire driveline was pretty much shot when I got it, and is still weak. The clutch, driveshaft, centersupport, flex disk and tires were all dead and didn't last more than 500 miles. Then I went for the stereo, and now I'm pleased with that. Now I'm going to go after the engine this summer if all things go well, and hopefulling end up putting out 130+hp NA. Current plans include a 284 cam, a port n polish, a valve grind, and maybe a bore out to 90mm (stock is 89 right?) with some JE 9.5:1 pistons. It kind of depends on how much cash I get my hands on, and how much I can do myself.

My dad purchased the car new in Oct of 82' as a company car (Tastee Apple) while on his way to Washington D.C he rearened somone in the rain and smashed the front end. He fixed the car enough to get it home and have it fixed at the Dealer (Cain BMW) in canton Ohio. Well later that week he got a call from cain, the had given the car to one of the kids that works there to take it to their body shop. Well the kid pulled out in front of some old lady in a big Buick and curled the front end of the car under.

At this time the car had all of about 3500 miles on it so my dad was furious, he went to check on the car and to see if it was to be totalled, well they didnt total it out but the accident he had in D.C was fixed for free to say the least. By replacing the whole front and and straightening the chassis. I bought the car from my dad in 2001 with 184,600k on the clock and 35k on the motor and tranny for $700 and began the 8 month long restoration process on her. Today she has 200,403 miles on her and still running stong with a few minor enhancements.

Thats the story of my lowly 83iS

My dad bout the car in October of 78 from Century BMW in Alhambra, CA. It was for my mom as her commuter car to work. Been garaged kept most of the time. When I was 17 I bought the car from my (cheap ass) dad, had her for about 7 years now.

I bought mine from the original owner in 2002, the car had 87k miles on it, all service records from the dealer and some BMW shops. the car was used by him to go to work at a Hospital and later driven to the train station for his commute hence the low mileage. I got the car and just drive it, haven't performed any major mechanical work except the upgrades.
I paid $300 for it. I drive maybe 1000 miles every three months, I put like 7-8k miles a year. Longest trip: 170 miles each way to my sisters college. I bought the car 1 block away from Bmw Clubracer S14 power 320is......
