Made a management decision to remove the P21S wax from the Zaino car so as to apply addition coats of Z. As Zaino is so optically pure, I am concerned that by using polish or clay, I could potentially mar the finish on the underlying coats of Zaino.

I thought at one time I read that P21S' Total Auto Wash would remove wax safely. Any confirmation of that? Or other suggestions given my concerns and objective?

I seriously doubt you'll be able to get off the wax without the Zaino coming with it. Thats why everyone always says to put on all your coats of synthetic before you use a carnuba topper. :az:

Sounds like a total redo situation to me. Maybe if you have quite a few layered coats of Zaino under the P21S you could get away with doing a Dawn wash on the car to remove the carnauba wax. Even Dawn won't remove several layers of Zaino, though I would probably do a conservative mix.

Reporting back on the experiment.

I sprayed the entire Zaino car with P21S Total Auto Wash and let it percolate for about 20 minutes during which time I prepared a bucket with a little more car wash concentrate than normal (I used Sonax on this occasion).

The P21S Carnauba wax layer seemed to come off as I hoped. Not sure if any Zaino was removed with the wax. However, it appeared that a nice shine remained; the tactile teel of the finish seemed to suggest it was Zaino rather than clearcoat; significantly less labor intensive than a full refinish.
