View Full Version : Finally: Dyno Numbers
JMWeb 03-30-2004, 05:22 PM I was finally able to put my car on the dyno. It was tested on a Mustang Dyno. They are known to yeild lower HP numbers than Dyno Jets. From personal experience, Mustang Dyno's differ by 5% less than that of Dyno Jets.
One graph is a Dyno of my car vs an average stock E46 M3 (stock m3s range from 265-270rwhp). The second shows the gains or changes between the two.
My car will be put on a local dynojet within the next couple days. Using the 5% difference factor, i hope to see 309rwhp.

Did you forget to post them? or are they going to be posted later? :noel:
JMWeb 03-30-2004, 05:28 PM Sorry.. New board software needs some getting used to :(
Ferris 03-30-2004, 05:35 PM Very nice numbers... So what are the mods?
AzN_M5 03-30-2004, 09:37 PM Very nice numbers... So what are the mods?
Ditto. :noel:
MPILOT 03-30-2004, 09:40 PM I'm glad you corrected your AFR now. These are some strong numbers for a mustang dyno. Congrats! :D
So what's next? Are you going to add the AA supercharger?
hsmith 03-30-2004, 10:25 PM Nice numbers :drink1: :handclap
GabbyGM3 03-30-2004, 11:04 PM Congrats, Very impressive numbers... Your engine is definatly putting down the power that its supposed to. Keep breaking those dyno records. Now all you need is some boost and you'll hit 400RWHP in no time!!
LandShark 03-30-2004, 11:04 PM Very nice numbers... So what are the mods?
yup yup!! ;)
JMWeb 03-31-2004, 12:58 AM MPLIOT,
I will be delving into the FI market in a couple of months. I am planing on a very intense set up. In the meantime, i will probably run a small 75 wet system on my car. Hopefully be making close to 400rwhp on a dyno jet.
Very nice numbers... So what are the mods?
Here are my power mods...
K+N Drop in, AA muffler, Custom Software, SS Race Pipe, Euro Headers, Denso Plugs, Ignition Solution Coils, UUC Stg II Clutch/FW, UDP, BHS Fan, GC Gizmo.
Ferris 03-31-2004, 11:12 AM Are you going to keep the software when you move to the wet shot? I've been avoiding software for this reason.
On a side note, do you happen to know the fuel line's, the soft line not the metal fuel line going to the rail, outer and inner diameter? I ordered a spare line, but waiting for it is what's holding up my install. I don't like the idea of running barbed tees on 5 bar fuel line so I was thinking of using couplings, but I need to know the diameters.
JMWeb 03-31-2004, 11:56 AM I was told that a revised software was not needed for such a "small" shot. In the nitrous world, 75 shot is laughed at.
I dont know the diameters but i will try to find out.
Your running a single fogger located at the intake elbow?
Ferris 03-31-2004, 12:32 PM I was going to do a single fogger, but I have a reservation about running it into the intake elbow. There is an oil return line on the bottom of the airbox that runs back to the oil pan. I think there is a possibility of oil contamination with the fuel. I may either remove this line and use a catch can or try to run it through the idle air rail, since it leads right into the intake runners aft the throttle bodies. Though with the idle air rail I’m not sure how the distribution will be and that’s my concern with it. I also don’t know how I feel about fuel puddle-ing in that massive airbox. 75 is a relatively small shot, but I’m starting out with a 35 till I get the A/F and dynoing done and also I get a good handle on the injection point based on reading the plugs. I may try both locations and see, I rather tweak it then ramp it up to 75 or 100.
I'll be sure to let you know when I iron everything out, I'm still probably 2 weeks out from the actual install since I'm waiting on some OE part so I can square away safely tapping the fuel line.
BMWguy206 03-31-2004, 01:18 PM Nice!!!
HyperHoHo 03-31-2004, 05:39 PM Ferris - You told me that you've gone through two sets of the traditional copper spark plugs (DCPR9E) on your S54...I was wondering if you had to gap them or are they already pre-gapped and good to go? TIA.
-Andrew
Ferris 03-31-2004, 08:13 PM No they weren't pre-gapped and I'm thinking very hard what I gapped them to, the actual specs are at my house in jersey. I'm thinking it was ~0.035 I think they came gapped around 0.042.

btw I'm not sure if I mentioned it when I first told you, the stock heat range is 8, 9 is one step colder. Not sure if you care or not but I wanted a colder plug
HyperHoHo 04-02-2004, 03:29 AM Would I gap them to the same as the factory NGK platinum spark plugs? I know those come pre-grapped. So if I do the same with these copper ones all I need to know is what the gap is on the factory plugs then, right? Anyone know?
