First off i just got my car recently, as in about 5 days ago. So im not too familiar with the gears to properly launch the car yet. And it is all stock. Well a friend of mine has a 98 cobra svt. We were headed to a restaurant, and just happen to pull up to a red light beside each other. I told him i didnt want to race beforehand because i just got the car, but he started reving on me anyways. Well, i figure what the hell i won't gun it too hard. Now the street was at a diagonal so i started off about half a car length behind him. Well we launched, he got a better start (obviously) but i was surprised he never got over a car length ahead of me. I stayed on his ass the whole time.

With a bit more practice he won't ever do that again :). My car is completely stock, i think he has aftermarket exhaust.

Get to know your car well, and you'll have some fun close races. He has a slight edge, but if you keep running into the triple digits you'll gain that edge back...

A few mods and no more Cobra problems:D

SVT's are pretty quick mid 13's, i have a charged mach 1 with the same SVT motor.... haha kudos to staying on his ass though, i just got my car 4 days ago, not an M3, only a 328, but its my fav car i've ever owned... if you see him again do a highway run with him, you'll win.....

He stopped accelerating once we were in the tripple digits, i got ahead of myself and kept going. Except i shouldn't have because i had just washed my car, and right when i broke 110 2 bugs exploded on my windshield. I was pretty pissed.

That's ok, that's why God made glass cleaner.... :D

I had a 99 cobra and my friend had a 99 M3, we would always have little runs. I took him all the time. 1st gear we were pretty even cause it was a bitch launching that car, but from 3nd gear on i would slowly gain on him and as the speeds increased to 90 and up i gained on him more, so i dont see how the M would catch up. Ive driven his car, and it defenetly didnt feel as quick as the cobra up top, 3rd gear was a beast in the cobra.

Wow I didn't know that M3s did that well against Cobras...they're drag beasts.

I guess that this doesn't include the newer ones though, only the 99 and back?

98 Cobra's had 305 hp and live axle... they ran mid to high 13's regularly....
