Not really a kill, but I "ran" with all of these cars within a ten-minute period.

I've often complained that I never get to run anyone when I'm out around town...maybe because my car doesn't attract a lot of attention. Who knows? Well, this all changed Saturday night as I'm making my weekly visit to The Girlfriend from Athens to Atlanta.

I'm heading down I-85 and I come up to a nicely-modded silver generation 2 MR2, who I pass on the left. He sees me and gets right on my rearend. There was a decent amount of traffic, so I had to wait for an opening to take off. Space opens to the right, I shift to fourth and take off, with the MR2 right behind me.

Weaving in and out of traffic, we hit 140 or so and pass a red Viper GTS with stickers all over, who joins in. I move over to let the MR2 take the lead, and what do I hear but a BOV! No wonder this guy was with me all the way to 140! With the Viper close behind, we pass a modded silver 350Z and '96-'99 Cobra who were having a go, and they join in!

So picture this...MR2 turbo, M3, GTS, 350Z and a Cobra all weaving through traffic at 100+! The Viper dropped off, I passed the MR2 again (with a BIG thumbs up to the guy), and we come up on a black Z06 in the left lane. I get right on his tail and he takes off! So, the Z06 is leading myself, the MR2, the 350Z and the Cobra.

Well, we're not finished yet...

We all pass a silver S4 wagon who wanted to join in the fun. He files in somewhere behind me, and we are all doing ~120 or so. I was coming up on my exit, so I flashed my lights at the Z06, he gives a thumbs up out the window, and I wave to the MR2 as I get over and those guys keep on down the road.

My guess is that, since there was an SCCA National going on just a half-hour up I-85 at Road Atlanta, that all of (or most of) these guys were heading back from that, and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time!

So, no more complaining from me about not ever getting to run with someone! :D

Nice, it always makes the drive more enjoyable when you have some people cruise with. I commute from school to my house everyweekend and always hope that I'll run into some nice cars on the way. It's not about really racing them but just cruising down the highway enjoying the drive.

My thoughts exactly. I'll run with anyone as long as there isn't too much traffic, especially on GA400. Unfortunately, a lot of guys overestimate their driving skills and nearly cause accidents when they want to drive fast. When I'm running with someone, I try to keep enough distance that I've got somewhere to go if things take a turn for the worse in front of me.....

Werd.

GA400 is known as the 'alpharetta autobaun' which is great, except that folks in 6 wheeled Dodge trucks also feel the need to make their hemi's scream at ungodly tones as they feel obliged to tail all the sports cars zooming North.

Wonders why Ron says this is such BS? If there was a SCCA National event going on, wouldn't it make since for nice cars to be on the highway that you can run with?
