help... my P7000ss is running low on thred and I need to buy new tires. Which one should I get between the Sumitomo or the Kumho? I drive pretty agressively and will be doing 3-4 driving schools a year and maybe some AUTO-X in between. Which one do you think would last longer?
Thanks,
Krit
I'm not sure about the Sumitomos, but you will not build any trust with the 712s. Dry grip is very poor - definitely not a driving school tire.

I think you should look at the Bridgestone RE730. Seems like a great tire for the money.

well, we'll see how mine perform in Pahrump(Vegas) in about two weeks at the Quattro Club USA Driving school......
i saw you and brett cruisin down Mira Mesa. Blvd after the meet today, i was on my way back into the industrial parks to do some donuts, frickin kumho's wouldn't grip enough for me to do stationary 360s(fronts kept understeering)

Yeah. . .Team Kumho, we were.
Actually, I was surprised at their respectable composure (relatively) in the wet. I was expecting them to be as poor as their dry grip.

I guess the price is the major factor since you are going to be burning tires all year. Good luck.

You mentioned driving schools and autocrossing, then you mention low-buck tires, these 2 comments do not add up. The only performance modification for your car that actually touches the ground is the tires and that is not the place to limit your' cars ability. The performance driving schools will test your ability to drive but, even the best drivers can't perform with inferior equipment.
as far as your question, The Sumi's will out perform the Kumho's by a good margin but, you should look into a maximum performance tire like the Pilot Sport, AVS Sport or the S-02 Pole Position.
