My 2003 325i has black exterior door panels between the front and back doors and exterior trim of the same material over the doors (one piece) from front to back. The problem: I can't figure out whether their plastic or flat matte paint. Does anyone know? And what would I use to clean/protect, if they are 1) plastic, or 2) painted? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks. -Jim :D

Hi, all. I'm just trying to resurrect this thread... Is it safe to use Vynilex on these parts? I've gotten different answers to what they are made of, tried Vynilex on the panels and they look great, but is it cool for the material they are? :help

Are you talking about the part between the windows, or the trim that runs the length of the car?
Could you post a pic?

DrJones: Can't post a picture, but it's the long trim piece that starts at the bottom of the front side window, runs along the top over both side windows, to the bottom of the back side window (over the doors, not attached to them). Also the B panels seem to be of the same material. Vynilex makes the B panels nice and silky black, but I didn't do the trim piece because I decided after doing the panels that I should find out what they're of first. Could be metal (aluminum?) or plastic. Hope that helps...

Whatever it is I doubt Vinylex will be doing any real harm to them. Especially since it sounds like they are plastic, Vinylex would be a good choice. You can also try some stuff called 303 Aerospace Protectant which is like Vinylex but a little lower gloss and it protects much better. It's awesome stuff.

Thanks for the responses... Vynilex does make them look really sleek and black. :alright
