View Full Version : 95 M3 vs. Civic Hatchback with a LS Integra swap
BlauM3 03-24-2004, 01:02 PM The thing is that I really didn't want to race this guy but he was so sure his car would beat that I had to see what his car do....so we raced.
I have a stock 95 M3 (automatic) with 138k miles on it.
This guy has a "fully built" early 90s civic hatchback with a LS non V-Tec motor with cams and intake, exhaust, and other stuff that I don't care about.
He was saying his ran low 13s in his car....lol....hell no!
He was telling people that his car would "handle that M3"....so we raced and he didn't "handle" me.....he could even handle his car.
We raced two times....the first time I had him but three cars lengths and he said he didn't get a good launch...so we raced again and I had him by two car lengths....and both races were on the street....but he was telling people that he could take me on the freeway too!
Both times I raced him I pulled way harder on the top end and that was from a dead stop. That wouldn't even be fun if we ran on the freeway! lol!
Anyways, I'm not saying my car is fast, it was just funny that this guy spent hella time and money on his car and that he thought he could beat me....I know that there a lot of fast imports that can and will beat me, but then again I don't go around running my mouth.
JeWRaCeR 03-24-2004, 02:05 PM Im sure his car probably could beat yours. BUT, we cars dont drive themselves, and a large part of the car is the driver. The guy probably couldnt drive his car, let alone any for that matter, and you showed him that he couldnt drive. Nice kill.
mmmbeefy42 03-24-2004, 02:08 PM If both cars were stick and the drivers were at the same level...The M would dominate
mmmbeefy42 03-24-2004, 02:09 PM I didn't think they made auto Ms until the OB2 engine in 96...oh, learn something everyday...
IS 300_M 03-24-2004, 02:13 PM You beat him fair and square...a couple of years ago, i had a del sol civic with ls motor with intake, exhaust etc....and i got beat by a prelude so i don't doubt that you beat him. on the other hand if its a gsr or the h22 (prelude motor) it would have been a different story.
shmoo 03-24-2004, 02:34 PM Yeah, I've seen OBDI 95 Automatics before. A modified hatch especially with Integra engines are pretty fast. He could beat you if he knows how to drive.
BlauM3 03-24-2004, 03:30 PM I really don't know that much about the Honda stuff but it was a LS non V-Tec motor that was in the Hatch.
He was suppose to race mt friends Integra with a Type-R motor swap...but his car wasn't running right last night.
I've only raced him on the freeway and killed him.....but never off the line.
His car is quick...one the quickest all motor Integras I've ever seen.

One of my friends that was there last night is doing a h22 into his hatchback....that thing should fly....lol!
Its going to be fully bulit with a little NOS help.
Should be mid 12s....Should be.

not the ls motor (140hp) unless it's turbocharged. i made a mistake when i did an ls swap instead of gsr, h22 or the type r motor.
cdriley 03-24-2004, 05:01 PM Will someone explain how a civic with a 140hp engine could pull on an m3- am i missing something
STL Avus M3 03-24-2004, 05:16 PM You forgot got about the JATO unit strapped to the roof.
BlauM3 03-24-2004, 05:19 PM Will someone explain how a civic with a 140hp engine could pull on an m3- am i missing something
Who said that?

???
JeWRaCeR 03-24-2004, 06:52 PM What didnt you understand. I said the guy didnt know how to drive, and BlauM3 showed him that.
BlauM3 03-24-2004, 06:59 PM ???
weight!
comptechgsr 03-24-2004, 07:28 PM nothing big, you beat the driver not the car.
with equal drivers u woulda been PWND in a drag race
X2theZ3 03-25-2004, 03:53 AM The guy's an idiot for doing a swap to a LS motor (wow 140hp), What a waste. I'm sure he could have found a GSR vtec engine.

THANK YOU!!!!!! Finally someone else on this board knows about hondas and their potential. Comptechgsr said exactly what I was trying to say. To the guy who doubted what an LS motor can do, with just a turbo and some minor mods, it will put over 200hp to the wheels. Just because its not a GSR motor, and doesnt have vtec doesnt mean its slow.

'Just' a turbo? A turbo makes quite a difference , on pretty much any engine. And this car didn't have a turbo on the swapped LS engine.
cdriley 03-25-2004, 11:45 AM Dont tell me that a little civic hatch with a whopping 140hp engine could beat an m3 with 240hp, in that case, weight does not matter
BlauM3 03-25-2004, 12:01 PM nothing big, you beat the driver not the car.

Bottom line is that I won and he lost! V-Tec non V-Tec Supercharger Turbo....he lost....lol....who cares what the car CAN do its WHAT it did and it lost!
There are hella hondas were I live that with eat up most stock or even mildly tuned cars....that wasn't the point of the story.
We all just having fun racing and talking crap.
BlauM3 03-25-2004, 12:03 PM nothing big, you beat the driver not the car.

Oh yeah....we all know that an M3 isn't a "drag" car.
SilverStreak 03-25-2004, 01:50 PM You can drag race any car...
Quaife101 03-25-2004, 02:15 PM If the LS motor was really "built" or tuned properly, staying N/A, in a light enough hatch, it could take a automatic E36 M3. Apparently his motor wasnt that built. Good kill.
