///M3 CRAZY 03-24-2004, 01:29 AM as we all know there are good and bad places to move to. i have been considering moving to the Ft. Lauderdale area. and would like to know if there are any perticular areas to look for or to stay away from. any help would be appreciated. i wanna come down and check things out of course but some help in the right direction would be nice.
thanks!
BGReddy00 03-24-2004, 03:48 AM Is this for a job?How much are you looking to spend a month?theres nice and bad areas of Ft Lauderdale..I perfer living in Boca Raton its a little north, and way more expensive..but your right in the middle of west palm beach and ft lauderdale 20 min from either...45 min from Miami Beach(SoBe)
///M3 CRAZY 03-24-2004, 10:28 AM no i am not considering the move because of work, more of a new start. i am not looking to rent i want to buy a house. i am looking somewhere in the $250k-$300k range as my max. and a 2 car garage is a must!!
///Mpmp1025 03-24-2004, 11:10 AM either look in Coral Springs/Parkland area. its a nice area and i used to live there. the Ft. Lauderdale beach area is nice but expensive, but when its time to sell ull get all ur money back and a whole lot more. that area appreciates fast and continuosly. another area is Weston. i live there and the houses r nice and appreciate well. the Weston price range is really big from $100K up to Millions. Weston is a great area, especially if u have kids or plan to have kids. u want to look at places like Weston Hills and Savanah, these areas go up in value faster. any where around Weston is also going to be good, like Davie, bc that area is growing fast.
PM me for more info, my parents r in the market, also, to down size and there thinking of moving to a house of the same price but with less rooms and single story in Weston. weve lived there for almost 10years now and love it.
I am doing this same move in about 6 months. Weston is cheaper but being Single Mid-20's males that we are we need to be by the action. Last I checked Weston is just starting to develope and you could buy a 3000sqft house for about $200k.
I know a couple chicks that live in the Skyrise Condo's on Colins just north of southbeach which wouldnt be a bad place to live at all. Valet parking, beaches ,bitches lol ...... The only problem I see is spending toooooooo much money and what the hell could I do for money besides running coke from cuba in a Offshore power boat.
How is Coconut Grove?? I was there one night and there were fights , tons of drunk college kids and girls passed out in the street. There was a cool club(2nd floor) Bar 3rd floor across from Johnny Rockets that was pretty good. Anyone know the name of that place???
///Mpmp1025 03-25-2004, 02:38 PM Weston has alot of MILFs, and were located like 10-15 mins from Ft. Lauderdale Beach/Downtown. there r lots of clubs down there and i think its better than South Beach its a bit less crazy and alot less Homosexuals, although South Beach is fun and i go there plenty of times.
i have a good friend that has a $6 million condo on 1 Ocean Drive. he has an awesome view, it is expensive but that area will always be hot.
Coconut Grove is nice. i like it alot and UM is there so there r alot of college kids around there on the weekends.ive been to that club a couple of times from what i remember but every time i went, i was extremely trashed.
BSR423 04-24-2004, 01:01 AM This post is too funny. I came into this section of the forum to see what the bimmer scene was like in Fl. because I too have been thinking about making the jump. I was in Ft.Lauderdale/Miami/Key Largo this past December. I had a really good time , but I'm sure the the woman are out & about more this time of year , & more so as summer approaches  . There are 2 things stopping me from moving right now.
1) My GF "Julie" started to cry when I told her I was SERIOUSLY thinking about moving. I told her she could move down as soon as she is done with college. She didn't want to hear it & begged me to say I wouldn't move. I gave in & said I wouldnt , but she didn't see my fingers behind my back :devillook .
2) I would need to have a job lined up in advance being that I am not as fortunate as some & would not be able to buy a 250K - 300k house , although I would have 2k cash in hand for a deposit & 1st months rent.
This is a very serious decision to make in life. Moving to a area that I know no one. I have been in Md all my life , know LOTS of people , but I think moving would be very interesting & I think it is in my near future.
Well...Maybe you Fl. heads will see me posting here in the future.

yosshimura 04-24-2004, 07:11 PM Liberty City, Overtown are interesting places to live.....
The place in the Grove you are talking about is Fat TUesdays.... Fights? It could happen anywhere ... there are tonsssssssssss of cops on wknds in the grove and s beach... so I would NOT worry about crime..
Miami? Kendall, Pinecrest..... Gee, it all depends where your job is... $300K budget? I would look into a condo in S Beach or Brickell. Not sure how much you could get with only that kinda money... YOU can get a nice house in kendall (south part of Miami) or Weston (but fuk egypt) in west Ft Lauderdale.... Boca? Full of old people, no party life... WPB? Hell NO!!!!!!!!! hick town no night life... stay in broward or dade..
Im shooting down to FL this july and trying to get ///M3 Crazy to come with me.... but who knows.
Fat Tuesdays was the name thanks for reminding me.

I'll be there as well on business in Miami. Driving down, we should hookup and terrorize Florida. :D

Properties in Miami are becoming more expensive. Being as I just bought a house, the average these days is about $300k for about a 2900sq-ft living area and about 5500sq-ft lot. If you are considering moving to Weston, you will find it difficult to find places in that price range without moving far west.
Bill,
The beach is a great place to live given the following:
1. You are single.
2. You have a good income (>$70K)
3. Dont mind paying about a minumum average of $400/month condo maintenance.
4. If you are looking at a 2/2 1200sq-ft, be prepared to pay ~$275k
5. Owning a Ferrari or Porsche is a plus.
