I just got killed by an Eclipse GSX.

Were pulling up to a red light and this fruit is showing off his BOV again and again and again... psshhh pshhh pshhhh... okay okay i know youre there i thought. With your nice altezzas and no suspension or wheels. He pulls up next to me and starts talking shit :rolleyes: Said something about my sportscar?? And something about how im going to get my ass kicked? Haha this kid sounded like he was right out of the fast and the furious. Im sitting there being friendly and he goes off.. So I was laughing my ass off, and I asked him what he had.. He wouldnt asnwer the question, but from the sound of his engine i thought he probably had quite a bit.


So anyways, we roll from 10 mph.. His rear bumper at my fender at the end of 1st, and at the end of 2nd he had a CL, end of 3rd he had about 1-1/2 to 2 CL's and we shut down.

He had some seriously short gears. he shifted to 3rd while I was 1/3 way through 2nd.


Guess thats abotu what I should have expected. I wonder how much better I could do on a highway?

Oh well... This goes down as the gheyest loss ever in my 325.

but yea, stock for stock, a GSX should take a 325 .. by that many car lengths, i dunno. obviously he had a little work done.. i don't think he had an ECU or controller raising boost cuz he wouldve killed you worse then. but even crap like intake/exhaust and all the plethoria of bolt-on bullshit for turbo cars can make them damn quick, with stock boost. They react better to ANY mod.. anyways, who cares.

Wanna hear something really sad? In my stock 325 auto i raced an Eclipse GS, non turbo, with at least intake and exhaust, most likely header and pullies too. He got me off the line because i drag raced him, which i never do in my auto because its asking for a beat down, and when we let off at 70mph i had only evened up the race, hadn't passed him yet! Of course if we went from a roll, or we kept going to 100mph, i wouldve won.. but thats the way things go. Hope you feel better now? :D

This is one of the few web forums that seems to have a very poor understanding of the term ricer. The term always meant to be applied to cars that were all show and no go. And it can apply to drivers of Japanese, American and European cars.

Some people here seem to assume that anyone driving a Japanese car is a ricer.

Jewracer, don't know why you should critize him for posting his loss, I find the loss stories are often more entertaining than the kills.

Sounds like the guy was talking s#!t and at least had Alteeza's. I'd call him a ricer, unless he had a mullet. There aren't any hard and fast rules. Call it as you see it!

It's telling that the guy put so much effort into seeking you out --perhaps in his mind BMWs are the cars to beat. It's not like you were looking for a challenge! And it's been said before, you went home in a Bimmer and he didn't :)

I love when someone says they lost to someone the most common reply is: "you woud have him in the twisties". How do you know he would have him in the twisties? Just cause he got a BMW emblam dont make him a better driver. GSX are great cars although i dont care for the 3rd gen since there to heavy, i like 2nd gen. They are a great platform to work from if you plan on modding. There AWD and already turbocharged, turn up th eboost and have some fun.

Yeah, definantly. If its stock or close to it, I'd bet a race on the highway, from say.. the meat of 3rd gear through 5th gear could go either way. The AWD system on the GSX slows it down a bit at those speeds, the GST will take it on the highway. At least thats what works for me, I have beaten the exact same car and driver on the highway that had beaten me in a drag race, quite a few times. anywhere over 75mph my car becomes quite fast.. Eclipses, modded Integra GSR, modded Civic SI, Cougars, Mid 90's Mustang GT's(230hp not the 260hp).. you name it, i swear on anything ive beat these cars at those kinds of speeds in my wimpy 325 auto.

As to which of those cars raped me in a drag race.. all of the above except the Cougar! :icon23:

Just because you got a better suspension dont mean you will take him in the twisties, a good driver can make a bad suspension look good and a bad driver can make a good suspension look bad. Lets not magazine race, lets see some real results.

Interestingly enough, my more serious DSM street racing friends are actually ricing their cars out to GET races. The Chicago guys have been beaten too many times by quick DSM's, they've losted too much money to "Stock" looking DSM's, they now know better and try to hustle young kids in riced out DSM cars. I'll give you an example, two years ago, my friend raced a stock looking Galant GVR4 with a roof rack on it on the street. We made money with that car, not too much, just cause the car was unique in it's looks, and it's wins (stories of it) reached other racers quicker than we'd thought. For example, one of our races, we spotted a Vette ZR1 on spray out four and gave him the hit ... we passed him in third gear. Races like this pretty much wised the domestic owners up quickly. It got harder and harder to get races with that car, so we moved on (took a Mirage and stuffed with a modded 4g63 motor).

We finally did get a number on the Galant, it went 10.91 in full street atire (there's video's of that pass floating around the web, one even by ESPN ... let me know and I can dig it up for you guys).

Point is this, it's far harder to get a race off these days with a stock looking DSM.
