View Full Version : Weight of a Z4?
Ridgeway 03-16-2004, 06:35 PM I was always under the impression that auto tranny would be heavier than a manual...yet bmwusa lists the stock weight of a 2.5i w/auto as 2932 and the manual as 2998- was my presumption just incorrect? And is there any big reason why there would be a 50 lbs difference?
TeamZ4 03-17-2004, 01:10 AM I always thought the Step was heavier, but can' say that I've ever actually seen an accurate comparison
I know the Z4 SMG weighs 20# more than the 6 spd manual
///MDriver 03-17-2004, 07:43 PM In theory, the auto should be heavier.
Gary-TulZa 03-22-2004, 05:59 PM Just wondering? :D
SilverStreak 03-22-2004, 06:10 PM Oh dear Lord.... :laugh
Ridgeway 03-22-2004, 06:19 PM I'm really hoping P does not own a Z4, or this thread might be umm interesting(to put it mildly).....
Gary, you're killing me!
BabyM 03-22-2004, 07:40 PM I'm really glad you brought that up. The Z4 has more muscle tone than say, a Z3. Since, as we all know, muscle weighs more than fat the Z4 will tip the scales more than the beloved Z3.
SilverStreak 03-23-2004, 01:17 AM What's it weigh? Depends on the driver.... :devillook
Gary-TulZa 03-23-2004, 11:59 AM I started this thread...
Why does my original thread show up as post #4? :dunno
Would P be happy with this? I think NOT!!!
SilverStreak 03-23-2004, 12:45 PM Wasn't me, but I noticed that, too...
Gary-TulZa 03-23-2004, 12:51 PM Maybe I don't understand the new format, but I'm pretty sure I started the thread...
WIPSTT
What if P started this thread? :(
SilverStreak 03-23-2004, 12:55 PM I think it got merged to another "weight" thread... maybe by a passing admin...?
Gary-TulZa 03-23-2004, 01:13 PM :devillook
Could be... :biglaughb
///MDriver 03-23-2004, 08:35 PM Sorry guys. I merged these threads together. They are similar. Your post is 4th because the other 3 posts happened before yours. I kept your title because it was more fitting. Sorry for the confusion. :D
TeamZ4 03-24-2004, 04:26 AM when are the mods on this board going to learn to keep their f-ing hands off the d@mn threads  bunch of do-gooder zealots I tell ya :firedevil
my Z4 3.0 6sp weighed 2980# with a low tank from the factory
2850# in full SCCA Stock Solo2 trim
only option is Sport Suspension
SilverStreak 03-24-2004, 08:15 AM Greg likely didn't catch the joke, it was a spin off of a similar thread(s) in Z3.... :laugh
Gary-TulZa 03-24-2004, 10:30 AM 2890# huh, interesting...
MGregski 03-24-2004, 04:55 PM How's everyone doin?:devillook: :D

 :rofl2:
Oh man, I'm sorry I missed that...
Hey, next time you're bored, gimme a call, we'll chat. I've dealt with so many files in english lately, if they walk by my door and hear me speak english, they won't suspect a thing.
BTW, we need a decent dog life thread in OT...
:devillook
SilverStreak 03-24-2004, 08:13 PM Great pic, Josie!
BabyM 03-24-2004, 09:41 PM Thank you! :winknudge
midlifecrisis 03-25-2004, 09:26 AM a Z4 weight thread and I didn't know about it? Shame on me. Shame on the Z4 too for no particular reason. Soooooo....the weight of a Z4 depends on several variables...wheel and tire weight can significantly alter total automobile weight. Other significant variables include whether you are weighing the car WITH passengers or without passengers.
Just thought I'd point out some less obvious things that others from the short bus may not have thought of.
I doubt any "WEIGHT" thread will ever be the same again.
MGregski 03-25-2004, 12:17 PM I doubt any "WEIGHT" thread will ever be the same again.
It'll be better. Gimme points:D
Gary-TulZa 03-25-2004, 01:52 PM I'm looking for points too...
I'm saving mine up to get the iron lung! :D
MGregski 03-25-2004, 02:07 PM  I might need one too

I see that communication with the mods is NOT the admins forte... :D
SilverStreak 03-25-2004, 10:20 PM I'll be discovering stuff 2 yrs from now on this site, trust me, I don't exactly have a rep for embracing technology... :D
Gary-TulZa 03-26-2004, 12:15 AM As long as you can still hit a "440 A" we'll guide you through the setup man!
MGregski 03-26-2004, 12:34 PM I see that communication with the mods is NOT the admins forte... :D
