Good thing I speak German, they gave a lot of info about it. The only thing that's not done is the replacement of the speedometer. The narrator said that the stock one ends too early at 160mph. The vehicle registration lists a top speed of 300km/h ~ 188mph. The engine and transmission are out of the M5, and the rear axles out of the M3. In the first three gears with the DSC turned off caution is a must, a tip of the gas pedal will point the tail in any direction you want. mmmmmmmmmmm :D bmwpower 03-22-2004, 05:50 PM price? trev0006 03-22-2004, 07:16 PM must be at least 30k for the swap parts and install. GEN3RIC 03-22-2004, 10:06 PM Id like to see how that setup performs. Think any magazines will ever get a Hartge Z4 to do some tests on? mb10175 03-23-2004, 01:13 AM That V8 sounds so asthetically pleaseing :) Me likey cbnZ4roadster 03-27-2004, 10:38 PM trev .... that link is givin me trouble .... repost? ///MDriver 03-31-2004, 09:27 PM I know I am late to the game, but does anyone have a working link? TeamZ4 04-01-2004, 10:11 AM I seem to recall $120k USD  garyhoov 04-01-2004, 02:17 PM I seem to recall $120k USD  *Slaps forehead* I could'a had a Z8. :D (Sorry, I couldn't resist. And that reference probably went right past most of you young whipper-snappers anyway) ///MDriver 04-01-2004, 07:28 PM *Slaps forehead* I could'a had a Z8. :D (Sorry, I couldn't resist. And that reference probably went right past most of you young whipper-snappers anyway) Well, if I am reading your post correctly, I'll be wanting to see some pics. garyhoov 04-01-2004, 08:16 PM Well, if I am reading your post correctly, I'll be wanting to see some pics. Nope, just making a really dumb joke that I'll now explain and completely ruin. TeamZ4 said that the steroid pumped Z4 referenced above went for about $120,000 (roughly the price of a Z8). Probably 20 years ago now (crap I'm an old fart) the vegetable drink "V8" used to advertise by having someone drink some "lesser" drink and then slap their forehead and say "I coulda had a V8" so you see, it was really quite the clever play on words  ///MDriver 04-01-2004, 10:18 PM Haha, no wonder it went over my head. That's before my time. :) TeamZ4 04-02-2004, 12:07 AM the Z8 is just a poseur showboat, I'd take that Z4 5.0 over it any day  ps: I got it :) which I guess classified me in the old category :( Z3speed4me 04-02-2004, 01:58 AM it doesnt work for me...can you repost it??? garyhoov 04-02-2004, 09:10 AM the Z8 is just a poseur showboat, I'd take that Z4 5.0 over it any day  ( If I had a choice between the two - and let me make it clear to any rich, eccentric women (or acceptably effeminate men) who might be reading this that I would be willing to perform any number of unmentionable, depraved acts for either of those two cars - I'd have to be brutally honest with myself and admit, that since the performance of each must be relatively comparable I'd rather have the $120,000 that looks like a $120,000 car than the $120,000 car that looks like a $35,000 car unless you are educated and look closely. I'm not proud (hell after what I just did for Mrs. Howell, how much pride can I have left?), that's just the way it is. mattjw916 04-21-2004, 12:18 PM The April 2004 issue of "Bimmer" magazine had a full test of the Hartge M5 powered Z4... cost was $113,000. Did you see the AC Schnitzer "Topster" in the latest issue? The paint job is, quite possibly, the ugliest I've ever seen, but I'd like to see them do something like this with the front fender of the M version (if they ever make it) to set it off from the base (minus the pseudo Corvette two-tone): http://www.maybach.ru/tuning/acschnitzer/acs-topster/09.jpg Z3speed4me 04-21-2004, 03:52 PM i personally like the orange and creme....id love to whip that car mattjw916 04-21-2004, 04:09 PM Did you see the AC Schnitzer "Topster" in the latest issue? I'm not proud (hell after what I just did for Mrs. Howell, how much pride can I have left?), that's just the way it is. well I think you just adequately described the difference between a driving enthusiast and an old fart ... I mean street poseur :devillook the Z4 5.0 has the better performance, straightline and especially handling but I have to concede that the Z8 resale would definitely trump the modded car unless you just got lucky Frankly I would get a real kick smoking an unsuspecting Z8 owner with my supposed $35k Z4 :D but you wouldn't need to spend that much when $20k worth of mods would easily suffice ;) garyhoov 04-22-2004, 05:46 AM ;) well I think you just adequately described the difference between a driving enthusiast and an old fart ... It seems they would have very similar dimensions, very similar engines, very similar tires. The biggest difference I can imagine would be that the suspension of the Z8 is likely a bit softer. Still, the Z8 is designed to have a V8 while it has been crammed into the Z4 (though it almost seems as if they may have designed it to eventually have a V8 ;) ). While the Z4 is a great handling car, I'd be afraid it would be less so with that extra weight. Now if you could use that budget to reduce weight, increase power, shorten gearing and tighten the suspension (and I think you're implying something like this with your $20K estimate) I'd be more intrigued. ///MDriver 04-22-2004, 06:36 PM The V8 is actually more compact IIRC, which means that if anything, the weight is reduced. garyhoov 04-22-2004, 08:06 PM The V8 is actually more compact IIRC, which means that if anything, the weight is reduced. Interesting! You're right, I just did a quick search, and it looks like it's a little heavier than the 3.0, but barely, and since (I'm assuming) it has heavier springs, tires etc. that's pretty impressive. I may have to think more seriously about getting one. :D TeamZ4 04-23-2004, 01:01 AM well a bolt-on $6k supercharger kit will get a 3.0 to 350hp without any weight penalty ;) and with add'l mods/$$$ I could see getting close to 400hp :evil2 PourkyM3 10-15-2004, 08:00 PM I know this video is old and I have seen it before, but I want to show a friend of mine the video.
