Coming home from Dawn of the Dead last night I notice an RX8 in some traffic (we have three lanes). There is some other stuff around. Some sort of exotic kit on what must have been a Beetle at one time, and a Gen 1 RX7 primered with some sort of messed up body kit on it. I'm not sure what either of them was trying to be.

The mutants exit and I end up stopped at a light in the center lane with the RX8 directly behind me. Sweet, empty road ahead. I accelerate a little quicker than traffic, he is in tow. I level off at about 50 mph in third waiting for him to pull alongside. He doesn't. Finally, he gets in the left lane and starts to pass. He is a couple lengths back and I see the light we are approaching turn yellow. To get stopped I would have had to hit the brakes hard, so I nail it at 50 mph in third. At that point I wasn't paying attention to him.

Exiting the intersection I look back and see he is gaining on me a little and still coming . I kept the right foot down and by the time I get close to the top of third I'm pulling on him pretty solid. I tap the brakes as we are approaching a car a little distance ahead in his lane.

I off throttled down to about 50 before we got to that car in his lane and tried to get in a thumbs up, but the RX8 driver stayed in the left lane a short distance behind me. Oh well.

He was a little quicker at first than I expected. He was coming forward when I expected him to be falling back, I was a little concerned. Maybe he gunned it before me, maybe he actually put out the effort to get into the correct gear.

Just a quick impromptu run. I think he saw me gun it when shallow in third and thought he could run past me. Nothing special.

:buttrock Very good. Actually, probably one of the best action/thriller/horror movies I've seen. Not a real thinker, but a lot of suspense, action, gore, and humor. I did not expect to like it, but it was great!

Nice Run, I finally saw a new RX8 on the road yesterday in Toronto. A red one... go figure.

Nice run! We have a few RX8s around town here nice looking car. I'm jealous of all these kill stories... no one wants to play with me lately. I'm having to slaughter minivans driven by emasculated husbands who rev on me at stoplights.

BTW isn't your sig missing something? ;)

 Nice! Reference to the movie. Go see it.

Nah, the RX8 didn't have a bottle. I think he just hit the right gear quicker than I hit the wrong gear. The RX8 isn't a toy, I recommend giving respect. :)

What is my sig missing? I'll put it in the avatar, the Linconln quote took a good chunk of space allowed.

Check out the recent poll by midlifecrisis in the Z3 forum. Like someone there said 'it's a Z thing' ;) All those guys over there are doing it.

Probably not. NO2 is tough to do right on rotaries correctly. Many a blown engine because of it. But it's possible. I would be more inclined to believe a properly timed downshift/WOT.

Nice kill though :D
