My buddy has a raced prepped M3 with light engine work.(intake chip exhaust) Tha car is essentially gutted. He was at the track, and the one of the instructors was driving some guys M5 to show him the cars potential. My buddy said the M5 was stuck to his tail through every turn, even though he had Group N suspension on his M3! In the straights the guy came up along side him, nodded, and past him with full force. He was amazed! Needless to say. Apparently the fellow that owned the M5 told the instructor to pull off the track cause he was getting sick!!! Have fun. Greg:cool: MarkM5 04-08-2001, 01:05 PM My frist instructor had some great comments for me at driving school. His first? " This car is a better driver than you!":p I'm still getting used to pushing a 4000lb car to it's limits. Mainly I'm scared what will happen when this thing breaks loose. Once it starts going the wrong direction, it's difficult to change it's mind. Hence, attending as many driving schools as possible before really getting after it. I'll be interested to see how my next autocross goes with the suspension mods though. First one put me through a severe learning curve with the car's handling charateristics. While I'd been through the M5 School, my suspension was slightly altered from the stock setup. (Dinan Stage II at that time) That made the handling change a bit, but I still faced severe understeer on hard cornering. That should be changed with my new setup. |
