Wow that was fun! Well, I really just went around the block but still :D

I swapped the steering box, adjusted the throttle cable, took care of little racing specific tweaks. It feels good to finally be able to drive the car around knowing that's all it's all checked out and ready to go!

I can't wait to throw that puppy on the track.

OMG I just went on a longer drive and this thing is incredible! It turns in SHARP! Very light. This car is phenomenal.

2 things I've noticed tho, brake and clutch pedals are too close to the driver compare to the steering wheel. Also, clutch travel is way too great, I'll need to throw in a clutch stop.

And finally the car requires some muscle to be driven. Unlike my E36 M3 that absolutely drives itself, it requires more attention and involvement. What a thrill! I feel like going on a drive now but neighbors certainly wouldn't appreciate it.

What size tires do you have? I noticed when I changed mine it bacame much harder to drive.

I currently run 185/60x13 on the front. I also run 205/60x13 but I haven't tried them on the front yet.

Do you mean hard like hard to steer? My previous steering box actually leaked all of its oil and the car became very difficult to steer.

The car became hard to steer after I (in this order)...

1) Put a much smaller steering wheel on it.
2) Lowered it 2 inches
3) Put 205/50/15 up front

Each one of these made the steering a little harder, with 2 making the least amount of change.

Yep, that makes sense. Mine is hard but only when the car runs at a walking pace.

Is power steering an unheard of upgrade anyone has done to a 2002? That would be a very nice.

Since then I actually completed my first race. I had 185's on at the time and they sure made it much easier to steer. The race was a blast, I have a post about how it went in the racing forum.

I've been a few 02's with power steering, I think it comes from a 320 but I'm not sure. You have to do a lot of modifications to get it to fit. I wouldn't recommend putting it in bacause it's a lot of work, and if the steering is too hard make sure you are using the stock steering wheel.

Geordie, I should have it up and running next time I see you, I'm actually working on it today.
