Hey guys, guess what? I walk out of the house today to find my car, my baby, my m3, was crashed into. *gasp* My car had been pushed about 10 feet backward from where it had origanlly been, and it hit a car that was behind me.
I spoke to someone and she said that at about 2:00 a.m. today some drunk college kid had crashed into my car and had tried to flee but his friend had stopped him from doing so until the police came. The police took the drunk away. I'm still trying to contact the police officer at the scene and find out more info.
My car in in pretty bad shape, the enitre drivers side front fender is caved in and totalled, the hood is wrecked, the front bumber is destroyed, my headlight, side light, and foglights and ruined, my sidskirt and moulding are broken. my rims are bent, one tire in deformed. In the rear, my bumber is in pretty bad shape, my rear diffuser, (i think that was it called), and muffler are on the floor. I can't pop the hood because it's too messed up and i have no clue about the damage under the hood and to the engine. And as of right now i'm one pissed of MOFO.

Luckly an officer had come to the scene and wrote a police report and caught the guy. Now is HUGE problem about insurance stuff, I know his insurance company is going to try to screw me over. But i'm goning to try to get all i can from them.

THIS is where you guys come in, do u know of any good body shops in the Bay Area? The crash happend in Berkeley, but i'm from Burlingame, CA. So traveling about the bay area is not a problem.

To those of you who may have had a similar incident pleae tell me how you went about your dealings with the insurance company and what can i do to get the most out of them.

If the car is still salvageable is it possible to get good aftermarket parts put on the car, such as a carbon fider hood, aftermarket exhaust, and any other performance part that i can possible get?

I apologize for any misspellings and grammer, i'm still a little shaken up.

Thanks!

Wow, that's messed up, but look at it this way: they caught the bastard.

Can't help you with a repair shop, but good luck anyways.

<-----my 300zx was involved in a similar incident, but I was in the car.

I had something similar happen to me.

I parked in front of my girlfriend's house and her neighbor backed into my parked car.

She called the police because she said it was parked illegally and wanted a police report that stated that it was parked illegally. The cop said it wasn't illegal and didn't even write a police report. Her insurance company was State Farm and they were actually very easy to deal with.

I just took the car to a State Farm certified body shop and got an estimate for the damage. State farm called me, asked if I wanted to have it repaired or if I wanted a check for the estimate amount.

I took the money and got it fixed for cheaper than the body shop estimated it for. I think you should do something similar. You can use the money however you want. (i.e. new aftermarket hood, ellipsoid headlights, etc) Good luck with everything, it sucks when stuff like this happens.

Damn I live in berkeley right now, where in berkeley did this happen? If some drunk crashed into my car in berkeley, I'd kill pull out my eibach sway bars in my room, and make sure he wouldnt be sober ever again. I'd kill him, then drag him into into my house, charge my air cannon to 100 psi, and shoot a broom stick into his ass. Then I'd make sure he is dead again. By beating him some more with some carbon steel I have in my room (I have alot of tools) and crush his skull with my oil cooler cap and hacksaw his knees, and crush his arms and chest with my hammer.

Sorry stupid people like that makes my blood boil.

Then file for temporary insanity.

Oh and B-Line does a good job.

Classic Autobody from when I see does a good job and their in berkeley. Last time I checked they had a couple of classic restorations and exotics, and a couple of E36's in there.

Whatever you do, get estimates from places YOU think will do a proper job, not just the cheapest places as suggested by the jerkoff's insurance co. My friend had his Maserati Quattroporte hit while it was parked outside his house and the lady's insurance suggested something like $250 for a cheap dent removal and respray. He said "Um, I don't think so." and had it professionally repainted by his specialist in Burlingame which was way more expensive but they paid.

b-line is extremely reputable or campbell collision center. If you go to the campbell place.. tell Ata that Ali Hooman with the silver 328i sent you:D they are the ones that fixed my car when I crashed.

How close to totalled is it, PICS? sad reality is at this point it would be better if it was totalled.

I lost an M in my past and it hurts so bad, I am really sorry to hear this.

Remember no matter how good the body shop is, once a car is shunted it is never 100% right again. Have the frame checked on a frame machine. The car may be torqued. Also if you can get them to total it, all the better. You can then buy out the total, make sure your there when your insurance companie's adjuster is there. Ask your insurance adjuster if he can set the buyout on the total low so you can "Recoup some of the losses" he or she might see the overall condition of you car feel compasionate for your loss and set it low.

I got my 89 back for $1100 after the total, and the driveline was intact.

You probably will get fair market value for the car. Plus you can part out the totaled car, or flip the parts and mods into a lower milage car.

This is how I came out ahead on my wreck, good luck.

This happend on the end of Prospect St., with the cross street being Dwight.

Pics will be posted shortly. I got the car towed home and had my uncle, a mechanic, look at it and he said it was totaled, because in order to fix it one whould have to cut a piece of from another car, and weld it back to my car. And the drives side tire is about a foot back from where it should be. What a hassel, and on top of that the car will never be the same. It really sucks not having a car. Thanks for you support guys and be safe

dude that sucks...i remember when I went to Cal, my friends parked Mitsu Eclipse turbo was smacked by a camaro...it's so like COPS. We just happened by on Dwight and Ellsworth (next to that mini mart) and the cops said a girl driving the camaro was DUI. The camaro had open cans of beer in the front and back seats and what was left of the 12 pack! Anywas she was driving up and started to bounce between the right and left side along the parked cars. Finally she did a 180 and smacked the Eclipse into and over the side walk. the Camber on the right side was adjusted 90 degrees! Every panel was damaged. Doesn't pay to drive a nice car as a student at Cal...get a used civic till you graduate.

BTW that was 10 years ago...I'm Cal class of 93

That's messed up! Anyways, you might try German Auto Body in Santa Clara on Del La Cruz Ave. Ask for Jon. They did some body kits and full repaints for me with great results. Good luck...

My friend's car just got hit by a BFI truck early in the morning. About a month ago on my way out I saw a kid with his IS300 sitting in someone's livingroom. I assume he was going 80 at that turn and lost control. It went through the front yard and crashed into the livingroom of that house. I hope no one in the house was hurt.

WTF are these suckers thinking? No respect and No skills whatsoever. DMV should really higher the bars for the driver's license test.

That's good to hear. I have State Farm and was wondering whether or not they were good.

Anyway, Calm3: It seriously sounds totalled to me. I've heard less damage and the car was still totalled. You've got front, rear, AND front/side damage. Plus, your car was moved back 20 feet! Unless your e-brake wasn't on, that sounds like a pretty hard hit. Sorry to sound pessimistic, but trying to be realistic. Not sure why no one else thought this. Maybe they're hopeful or don't know? :dunno

But then again, I may be off. Pictures would do this thread wonders. Sorry to hear about your accident. That REALLY sucks! :(

Good luck fixing it.
