View Full Version : Along with the speed crackdown in nor cal Don't race STI's
RRdawho? 03-09-2004, 05:43 PM Along with that Cali Speeding crackdown I've been hearing reports of Cop's using STI's now. They usually look stock except with aftermarket wheels.
Careful out there guys, and I'm thinking about investing in a V1 too one day...
Also, here are some tips might prove helpful for all of you. I know I follow it, and its saved my ass alot.

DiScoTeknix 03-09-2004, 07:43 PM cops are driving sti's??? WTF, should have gotten m3's instead:D
SlowerThanRice 03-09-2004, 08:05 PM I thought the CHiPs were using them as high speed chase pursuit vehicles.
Jwright 03-09-2004, 08:09 PM What the heck?
Mblaster 03-09-2004, 08:36 PM Cops in STI's! Thats just not right...
badmonkey 03-09-2004, 09:58 PM Really, they should be driving EvoVIII's
m34ever 03-10-2004, 12:11 AM man...anyone know what color? another car to look for in my rearview.
tcarswell 03-10-2004, 12:27 AM wtf ... STI's ... Don't those LS1 z28's run down anything they need to catch ?
Steve@Edge 03-10-2004, 12:30 AM They got the STi's in case they need to chase down a bad guy going 120mph down a fire road.
Seriously though... wtf?
Steve
TheMuchacho 03-10-2004, 01:25 AM WTF!
If you can pull on them, they should let you go!:devillook
On a serious note, I did see two CHP's running radar between San Jose and Morgan Hill this morning.
DiScoTeknix 03-10-2004, 01:51 AM if only i still had photochop installed.
VoltesV 03-10-2004, 02:25 AM I heard that Colorado has some STi cop cars, but I don't know how true that is.
Hadn't heard anything like that in Cali until now.
RRdawho? 03-10-2004, 02:55 AM From what I heard the STI's are more used as undercover cars ala street racing etc, but I wouldn't doubt it if they used it for pulling over speeders either. I know cuz my friend who was in a SRT-4 was about to rev on the STI next to him when he saw the interior lights cop car lights and a uniformed officer.

Anyone?
Man if they really wanted to be stealth they'd be buzzing around in tricky little black turbo Civics with fartcans and altezzas ....
e36m3_858 03-10-2004, 05:00 PM and a red and blue underglow kit
RRdawho? 03-10-2004, 05:11 PM I don't think cop's would stoop that low....:biglaughb then every friggin person that wanted to put ricey civics in their spot would get a ticket :biglaughb
UNIQUE///M3 03-11-2004, 04:01 PM my advice is to get a V1
DiScoTeknix 03-11-2004, 06:28 PM the sti's will proabably be a base color... white/black. Or they might be pink, this might be some good info, anybody know for sure what color they are?
edit: wrote evo's instead of sti's... i'm tired.

mmaigret 03-13-2004, 04:48 AM The above photo is not an STI. It has the < 2004 headlight treatment. The STI's have the newer headlights.
Bastidges ... I thought we had a budget crisis.
Croak 03-13-2004, 03:22 PM We do..Scoobies are cheap.

VoltesV 03-14-2004, 03:56 AM Stock, no?
sachin528 03-14-2004, 04:06 AM DAmn. That is one reason to be a cop. Drive a STi at high speeds, legally.
e36m3_858 03-14-2004, 04:33 AM even though, i still couldnt live with my self beeing a fuckin pig..
FateMaker 03-14-2004, 04:36 AM The speeding crackdown is not just in Nor Cal. The CHP is heavily patroling I-5 between San Diego and Orange County. What a bad time for my V1 to go kaputt!
Thanks for the heads up on the STIs.
FateMaker 03-14-2004, 04:40 AM I was just thinking ... sometime over the past week or so my V1 stopped picking up Ka Band radar signals that the CHP puts out. Could it be that the CHP is using a radar band other than Ka?
///M-Bramage 03-14-2004, 10:07 AM I would like to see a thread started regarding Radar Detectors... I am thinking of buying a V1. The last time I got a ticket on radar was 1983. I am knocking on wood right now. Do the CHP and others use radar on the freeway, and those who have it, (V1 or other) does it warn often? This is specific to San Diego / So Cal... I just don't know if it is worth the investent. Croak, you have one right?
If you do a search you'll find eleventy billion threads on rad dects.
