I just purchased a set of RA-1's for the track...I'm more of a track fan than Auto-x, so this was my first priority. I have heard that the RA-1's are much better suited for the track and judging by the results at the SD National it looks like no one is running Toyo's

Anyway, is it better just to stick with my street Kuhmo MX's for Auto-x or swap to the Toyo's? If anyone can speak to the RA-1's performance for Auto-x versus the MX's I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
MSH

I've run a few rain events on full tread RA-1s, and were fine, grippy, stiff and predictable. When I first put them on, they were noticibly better than the AVS Intermediates I'd had on the same wheels previously.

I think, especially if it's warm out, the RA-1's could work quite nicely, and other factors being equal, would be faster than the MX's. They'd most likely still be a tick behind Kumhos or Hoosiers that you see most commonly at the top levels of competition, though.

If you can run in some 'street tire' class, then the MXs might be the way to go, otherwise the RA-1s.
