Hey guys, im looking into 2002's as an option to replace my broken e30. Its a 325is.
The car im looking at has a 5 speed swap still with the m10. Its a 1602. Im wondering all of whats involved in swapping the m20 in? Anyone with experience?
Thanks guys!

It takes a bit of work, check out http://www.bmw2002faq.com/talkshop/forum/ for everything you'll need to know. There are a few people on that forum that have done the swap.

My m20 project (http://www.thedigitalmethod.com/bmw/web)

I am doing the conversion right now. Hardest thing will be to source a transmission. A euro 323i tranny will fit perfect with only mild persuasion to the tunnel. A e30 trans (getrag 260-265) is a LOT bigger and you will have to section the tunnel and figure out the spedo. Dan Williams has been making motor mounts but I think he just sold his last pair and I don't know if he will be making another batch.

pm me if you have any other questions.

There is a lot of good info here, including motor mount drawings:
