View Full Version : Mounting a Harness Lap Belt

I'm trying to install a Simpson lap belt on the driver's side of my '92 325is and it appears the outer belt (driver's left) can be attached by piggybacking the eyelet for the harness with the torx bolt securing the seat belt "slide". But, the inner mount (driver's right) appears to be connected to the driver's seat itself. It appears access will be tough, but assuming it can be reached, is there a place to mount the inner lap belt mount in there?

How have y'all mounted lap belts in E36's? FWIW, I plan on using the stock belt also, hence why I'm not using the shoulder harnesses.

Thanks,
Tommy

I drilled a hole in the floor board and put in an eye bolt with big washer underneath, supplied by Simpson. I made a small slit in the carpet. When the eye bolt is removed someday, you won't be able to tell it was there. It works great and doesn't interfere with rear passengers at all.

Holds my fat butt in place purdy good!
