View Full Version : M Coupe getting converted in Salt Lake City!
My M Coupe is being converted to.... FORCED INDUCTION!
Was picked up this AM and should arrive at Eurosport in Salt Lake City on Wednesday or Thursday.
Will be the first M Coupe/Roadster fit with the Eurosport/Conforti intercooled twinscrew supercharger and the first with Schrick cams. Shakedown will be the '04 One Lap at end of April.
Also hoping Eurosport will be able to install a Racelogic traction control system. With approx. 360 rwhp and 300 lb-ft torque (over 250 lb-ft at 2,200 rpm), I'll surely need it!
Neil
tEckniks 03-01-2004, 05:50 PM awesome!
MACK1 03-01-2004, 05:57 PM You certainly know how to keep the rest of us grabbing at your coat tails Neil. Look forward to seeing you at the OLOA BeaveRun School.

Haven't yet signed up for drivers school at Beaver Run since I'm not sure when I'll have my car back. But sure would be nice to do at least one track event before setting out on the One Lap.

GreekM3 03-01-2004, 07:20 PM wow, congrats neil!! you still coming to some of the auto-x's this year?
Yep, I'll be autocrossing. Figure I may need some really sticky tires this year!
dave is cool 03-01-2004, 11:12 PM Sounds awesome. Is Eurosport sponsoring you since you'll be the first one with that specific type of SC?
Yes, I'm beta-testing the twinscrew. One Lap should be a great proving ground for the system.

NoSoup4U 03-02-2004, 01:09 AM Man, you were already fast enough as it is ... Frayed and you, both hella good driver's and now with additional power, will kill a lot of the competition. Congrats ...
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it ... I've been toying around with the idea of getting a 1995 M3 and PD'ing it as well, and keeping my current one stock for daily driving. I especially look forward to hearing your experiences at Mid-Ohio and VIR ...
Purv944 03-02-2004, 02:05 AM Hey Neil, whenever you have your car back, do you think it's possible for myself to come up and go for a ride in it? :)
I'm at a crossroads now. It's between a Supercharging/Nice Wheel-Tire Package/Suspension on the M Coupe or picking up an E39 M5.
Thanks alot.
~Matt

Be happy to let you guys check it out. Not likely to have it back from SLC until late March/early April :bawl

vjlax18 03-02-2004, 09:55 AM How much does the car weigh?
At weight-in at last year's Solo2 Nat'l in DC it was 2,970 (interior stripped and gas just over reserve). Figure that the twin-screw and assorted bits and peices could add 35 - 50 lbs.
John V 03-02-2004, 10:27 AM Neil,
Should be fun for you... I sure hope they split the BMW club autocross classes so I don't have to try to keep up with you this year!

Teuton 03-02-2004, 11:38 AM Can't wait to see it Neil.
Any chance I can get a ride in it?
Pete
vjlax18 03-02-2004, 12:05 PM ~3000lbs... hmmm wanna race? You should take it out to Capitol one time. I'll steal the wife's car. :evil2:
MACK1 03-02-2004, 01:47 PM Understandable about the driver's school, but I think it's in April. I'm sure you will have the ability to get in short notice being you are participating in the OLOA. Regardless, I hope the kit works out well and the Race Logic keeps the wheels planted firmly on the hard pack.
GreekM3 03-02-2004, 01:51 PM BTW, it'll be good to see another FI car in the area:D
jterp 03-02-2004, 04:36 PM mind if i ask how much something like that costs?

No shyt! Forget the twin screw...traction control is what's going to kill the competition. Imagine not having to feather the gas pedal and just being able to punch it.......

Don't really know what retail cost will be, although something around $7G was mentioned by one of the M3 beta testers.

The Racelogic should be terrific.... if we can get it working. There are certain software-related issues that will have to be handled.

If it's 7g's w/ reliablilty & traction control, then it's a bargain!
Neil, are you a beta tester or is this an early adoption?
I'm a beta tester.
The possible price I referred to doesn't include the Racelogic system. Just to make clear, Eurosport has yet determined (as far as I know) what the final pricing will be.
dave is cool 03-03-2004, 12:22 AM tripleM, when did you move to Northern VA? I never remember seeing under your name it saying NoVa...
Anyways, do you have any pics of your M Coupe?

It can't be that big a difference between the 3.0 the 3.2, can it?
vjlax18 03-03-2004, 09:38 AM [deep scruffy voice] Feather? I don't feather, I just put my foot to the floor and swing that bitch around the track [/deep scruffy voice]

After driving your car and Doby's car, I can safely answer "yes." There is a tremendous difference in low-end torque between my car and your cars.
In my car I'm basically foot to the floor coming out of all corners unless the revs are above 4500 or so.

Neil-
Congrats! sounds like it's gonna be one fun car!!! I remember reading about Kevlar running a RaceLogic on his old E36 M3 and having problems with it. Hope it all works out!
