I'm hoping to break into the 13's this time, I *think* I can pull it off, I just got to drain some oil to save some weight.

Just make sure you dont drain all of it out of the turbo! I did that once and BAM, no more turbo. :( Now I have to run my stupid n/a M3 around.

Im surprised you arent trying to hit 12's or 11's with your set up. Are you babying it?

:devillook

Oh, and on-topic, if you ever go on a Saturday or Sunday, lemme know. I think any track is better than the craptacular 75/80.

vjlax18
03-02-2004, 09:36 AM
Capitol isn't much better so I've heard. And I'll be getting there right when they open. Although my 2 bent wheels may not feel too good at 100mph :(

Mikey52
03-02-2004, 10:40 AM
Well then, perhaps a trip to MIR is in order this year? I recall James trying to do that last year but noone could get their schedules together. At any rate I was planning on heading down there some time, it's a long drive though so hopefully nothing breaks.

03-02-2004, 01:53 PM
Cool. I think I'll be alright with mine, but I'm only going to run a couple times anyway. I can't wait to get a new clutch and see what this thing will run.

Gates open at 5, and racing starts at 5:30.

Their first day open is supposed to be the 7th, but I know they were open the 29th.

I just checked their site:

"Capitol Raceway 's
Opening day will be Sunday March 7th for Test & Tune from 12 to 5 (gates open at 11:30)
TEST &TUNE 2004 $20 TO RACE $10 TO WATCH."

www.capitolraceway.com

Looks like their first Test and Tune is on Sunday, according to their site.

Edit: I just looked at their site again and looks like they HAD a test and tune last Sunday because of the good weather. Maybe someone should call before we go down there.

More like I can't afford to break the M3 - drag racing is just too hard on tires / clutches / drivetrain.

The motorcycle is bulletproof - it's got a built clutch and a new rear tire. :evil2

(and yea, I do need a m/c to keep up) :)

Ok, back on topic (after I hijacked it)

Just talked to Capitol.

IF the weather is good tomorrow, they WILL be open for a test and tune. And it will be open on Sunday for test and tune as well.

I'll call them again tomorrow afternoon to confirm if they will be open. I think the weather is supposed to be nice.

Stay tuned.

Jed (and John V. & Andy & any other Columbia folks) maybe we can meet again somewhere in Columbia and head down together?

Jed
03-04-2004, 05:38 PM
Glenn-

We can meet up at the Best Buy like last time if you want.

I want to see what kind of difference taking my exhaust off has done to my car since it "feels" slower without it. The pullies and throttle body did squat for the car and doesn't make up for the exhaust. I might have to use up all the washer fluid to lighten up the car.

That's it! My excuse!!!! Yeah... I am going to be slower tomorrow because I don't have my Rogue DMS exhaust. So if I get a bad time, that is why. And I pull a time faster than my best of 14.918 then I am a superior driver. Ahhhhhhhh! Making myself feel better already!!!!

Back up excuses:

1) Rear tires are bald
2) I slammed the limiter in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
3) I gained weight since my last time at the strip
4) I blew my launch (a classic)
5) tomorrow's weather is hotter and more humid than last time

318=3 series with 1.8 or 1.9 4 cyl.

Hmmm... I would have to leave for work by 6:30 (and still leave work early). I think you can count me out but I'll try to go in early. It probably isn't the best idea to run with my suspension anyway.

---Eric

Teuton
03-04-2004, 06:41 PM
You don't need stiff suspension to go straight. In fact the softer suspension should allow you to launch better. Better weight transfer to the rear.

Dang, there goes my excuse...:D

I guess I'll have to use the classic "I've got a stock 318is" or I'll blame it on my idle problem.

If I don't have any meetings in the afternoon I could probably leave early. Unfortunately I won't know until tomorrow.

I *HAVE* and excuse... it goes something like this:

The hoses that connect all of the shit under my M50 manifold are all collapsing, and dat shit ain't good.

On another note, I fixed a vacumn leak, and replaced the Slave Cylinder.

I'm bringing my helmet just in case :D

I *might* swap my 17's on for tommrow...when I ran with my 18's last time my lowest time was a 14.35 or something. I wouldn't think that my 18's would slow me down that much considering they are lighter then my 17's:confused: :(
