Wife and I decided that we needed a more practical commute car since we were piling miles on our two 3-series. Since I was NOT going to trade in the M, we decided to trade in the 330 vert.

First priority was to just get a nice commute mobile, and my wife liked the Accord well enough so that seemed the pick, but I really needed something more sporty, so we expanded our search.

Infiniti FX - we set a self-limit of less than 35K since we wanted to actually LOWER our monthly payments, so this was taken off the list (plus not great mpg either).

Infiniti G35 - wife not too hot on styling
BMW 3 series - price too high for a well optioned one
2005 Nissan Altima - definitely nicer than the 2004 but interior too cheap looking

came down to Nissan Maxima and Acura TL. Better price for Maxima and had some great features but our hearts were pulling us towards TL. So we pulled the trigger on a Black/Black TL.

Pretty much loaded (except no NAV), 5speed AutoTrans with an absolutely silky smooth Sportshift (Steptronic).

Here are the pics...

Nice dude! I really like the rear-end styling on that car, fairly fast too. But black? You must really like cleaning your cars, that's at least at two hour project between the two.
Hey what ever happened to the new rims you were going to get for the M? I can't wait to see the pics.
Take care,
Kevin

oh and black again, well.. true story... I swore up and down that we would NOT get another black car, so we decided to go with a dark grey (Anthracite in the Acura's case). After all the wheeling and dealing over the price and going to a dozen different dealers, I had the dealer check if they actually HAD the car we were haggling over. They did but after re-checking found out it had been sold (DOH), so on the spur of the moment, my wife asks "what about black?". It was a sneak attack and the Black Car Gods must have temporarily possessed her, but whatever the case, I caved in and said "hell yeah, lets do it".

Too bad we couldnt get the 6 speed, but we already have one car thats sporty enough for 4 cars.

NICE!!

Those new TLs are mighty impressive cars. One of my coworkers just bought an IDENTICAL one last week and I got to look it over and drive it.

I'll tell you what, for a front-wheel drive car, you can't even really tell that it's FWD. The steering and braking response were crisp and linear and the power delivery was smooth, yet authoritative. I love the gauges on that car, too!

You made a wise choice, I think. Good call.

Tres jolie. I like those more than the last TL. This one looks much sportier. It's good to see Acura getting back to the spirit of the original Legend Coupe (we had one for 10 yrs).

Those coupes were fast for having only 160hp.

Now, you need to join that crew I've seen running around Atlanta -- the Acura Legendz.

Get the big windshield banner and everything.

Did you not like the previous generation of TL? I did... they were a great car and not all that bad-looking. Granted, they weren't the sportiest thing on the road, but certainly not unattractive, I should think.

At least, don't tell my boss they are ugly.

Congrats. For some reason, the new TL reminds me of what the new 5er could have been. :(

A slight variation of that should have been the look of the E60, new 5 series!! :)

Its not that I did not like the old model. I just like the newer model better.... This has a more agressive look.

Looks good Mark. Sorry to see the 330 go, but I suppose priorities stand in the way of preferences sometimes. The great thing about the TL is you will probably never develop a rattle, never have an unscheduled service appointment, and never have the car do anything but perform as it was intended to. Congratulations, and I can't wait to see the wheels for the M3.
