View Full Version : Snow Day!!!
MGRMLN 02-26-2004, 08:10 AM It's a slushy mess out there!
Although I just drove around (in the Honda Element AWD) and it's not at all slippery, I hope everyone gets to take a snow day.
325Driver 02-26-2004, 08:30 AM WOOHOO!! UGA is cancelled so I'm happy. Especially since I was scheduled to have a Data Management test in 2 hours.
BimmerKat 02-26-2004, 08:34 AM I tried to get out of work, didn't work too well. :(
Oh well, at least I don't have to be there until 10.
///M3///M5 02-26-2004, 09:07 AM school got canceled for me as i wa waling out the door!!!
zeit00 02-26-2004, 09:28 AM I am going to try and leave after my conference call..
bcart1991 02-26-2004, 09:58 AM You all suck. There's about 1/8" on the ground here and the roads are wet. Yet amazingly, the schools are still cancelled...
I'm already at work and Rachael is going in this afternoon (she works in Austell).

WytLytnyn 02-26-2004, 10:03 AM Contrary to popular belief, GA400 was fine this morning. I made it from the Connector to Windward in 17 minutes. It must have been all of that cold, moist air that helped. It felt like I had another 10HP....
zivilyn861 02-26-2004, 10:05 AM Bah, Tech's like the only school in 40 miles that's still in session today (or at least closed till noon). I wanted to sleep in!! :(
zeit00 02-26-2004, 10:09 AM It has nothing to do with me handling the roads.. It has to do with being able to take the day off... and having an excuse to do so. ;)
And yes 85/400 was fine all the way to work.
Bremsen 02-26-2004, 10:14 AM To all the students here:
YOU SUCK!
steved033 02-26-2004, 10:24 AM I'm leaving for work now...the summer tires on RWD will be my excuse...
and everyone will be like..."What about all that fancy trackshun kontroll and ABS and stuff you have on your car...?"
sjd
PersianM3 02-26-2004, 10:24 AM Dont have school either. :D Im just going to chill at home and watch the Chappelle's Show Season One Uncensored on DVD.
zeit00 02-26-2004, 10:27 AM Traction control? What is that?? ;) My ABS was kicking it this morning though
zivilyn861 02-26-2004, 10:38 AM Lol, it's my last semester in school, so I want to milk it for all it's worth... then it's off to the daily grind for years and years...

Bremsen 02-26-2004, 10:51 AM I did get to have a little fun doing donuts in the parking lot this morning. :D
Ron17 02-26-2004, 10:55 AM I came into work, despite my better judgement. Most here are working from home -- something I should've done, myself.
rwindleyme02 02-26-2004, 10:57 AM It's the oposite here in Norcross Aaron. Almost everyone is here at work today... :(
Ron17 02-26-2004, 11:02 AM It's bad up here. There's still lots of slush on the roads in many places.
rwindleyme02 02-26-2004, 11:49 AM Yeah, Jimmy Carter has lots 'o slush also.

:nono Tech isn't even closed till noon. I had to drag my ass outta bed at 8:30 today to go take a test. People slipping and sliding all over the place, kinda funny to just observe for a few mins.
Ron17 02-26-2004, 11:55 AM People falling is funny. :)

But Brian Carter is slush-free. :)
Ron17 02-26-2004, 11:56 AM ... And now 100% humor-free!

That was yesterday only. I'm back on-point today.
Ron17 02-26-2004, 12:03 PM
Are you? ARE YOU!?!
Ron17 02-26-2004, 12:06 PM By the way... more snow on the way.
Doppler Radar for ATL as of 10:53am:
punknamedjimmy 02-26-2004, 12:10 PM as long as its nice by sunday. it can keep on snowing!!
i don't wanna go to school tommorow anyways!
punknamedjimmy 02-26-2004, 12:10 PM oh, and i have monday off! muahahahaha
bcart1991 02-26-2004, 12:12 PM It's already passed me by. :(
When is that shizzle from Alabama s'posed to hit us?
Kyle K. 02-26-2004, 12:33 PM Yeah.... walking across campus at 8:45 in the snow fucking blows. Why we are the only campus in the entire area still having class I don't know.... but it makes me want to urinate on somebody in charge.

fortysix 02-26-2004, 12:40 PM No school :)
Hasn't snowed here since early January of 2002 guys.
Ron17 02-26-2004, 12:42 PM I think it's exceedingly ghey how the whole city didn't just shut down for this. I don't care if the roads are passable...
Snow in ATL should be an occassion for closing everything and just enjoying the beauty. Let us return to the days of our youth and frolic in the snow.

Yeah, I had to do the same... I guess I worded that badly, but by closed till noon part I was referring to GA State (that I heard was opening at noon, but I dont think thats true anymore). Either way we got shafted.. again.
Ron17 02-26-2004, 12:51 PM Surprise!
During my first quarter at Tech (Fall of '96), we had a snowstorm on the evening before the last Friday of finals. When I woke, there was about 3 inches on the ground. Of course, finals were not postponed at all -- so I had to sprint across campus in 20-degree weather and icy sidewalks to get to my final.
(Got an A in the class. ;) )
punknamedjimmy 02-26-2004, 01:09 PM AHHH ITS UNDRIVEABLE THE SNOW IS TOO THICK
punknamedjimmy 02-26-2004, 01:09 PM i just thought this was funny. i started putting down my window but the snow stayed put.
Kyle K. 02-26-2004, 01:16 PM Roll it down a little further and the snow will head on in. Awesome.
My first winter in NJ I didn't know how to deal with snow... so one morning after some snow I opened up my driver door and sat halfway in the car (with my legs still on the ground), started the car, and turned on the windshield wipers. Basically, all the snow that got pushed off the windshield ended up on my pants and on my floormat. :( That sucked.

To me, that would be more of a common sense thing than a "not having any experience with snow" thing.

Leif E. Bronn 02-26-2004, 01:44 PM You all are lucky, it's just cold and rainy down here in Macon.

Thats what we get for having people from the North run the city....this little bit is no big deal.
However, I don't have school today :redspot thank God as well because I had a Computer Organization and Arch mid-term this morning

The big button on the front of the box that makes a whirring sound turns it on.
The box what has a TV screen on the front is called the monitor.
If you make a mistake, you can use the backspace key, rather than using whiteout.

What is the formula for a 3-bit comparator?
Suppose that one has a Selector in which one of the inputs (B) is the inverse of the other (A). Show what the Boolean formula for this selector would be.
In class, we showed how to calculate Ci+1 for an adder. What is C0 (the initial Carry-In bit)?
Previously, we said that in 2s complement subtraction, to calculate A-B, we negate B and add. We negate by inverting all the bits of B and then add 1. Show the Boolean equations for Si, Ci+1, C0 for a subtractor. Hint: Start with the equations for an adder. Then, invert your answer for C0 from question 3 above. Then invert all of the 2nd inputs for the adder.
Sparc_it 02-26-2004, 02:11 PM Have fun

That's all for now. I do enough of this stuff at work... :az:
rwindleyme02 02-26-2004, 02:31 PM can't these just be added in a calculator? Sounds like something they would give on the general section of the EIT....
Ron17 02-26-2004, 02:34 PM My guess is that they can't use calculators on this test. Doesn't that seem logical?
rwindleyme02 02-26-2004, 02:47 PM Yeah, I guess that would be more challenging. Just more busy work but when has Tech ever NOT wanted you to do things the hard way.
Ron17 02-26-2004, 02:48 PM He goes to Kennessaw St.
rwindleyme02 02-26-2004, 02:49 PM ahhh. Ok
Sparc_it 02-26-2004, 03:49 PM Yeah, I go to redneck college. That place sucks but oh well.
No calculators...everything by hand and we must show work. At least I have until Tuesday to study some more. I don't think its gonna be too hard, I have had this professor before for another class.
