I just want to get some perspective on the value of my car.. sorry if this kind of post is annoying.. just skip it!

The car is in good-to-excellent condition. It has been hit in the rear, but repaired and looks good (happened before I got the car). I put in a brand new BMW crate engine (3.2, the $6000 one)about 2500 miles ago. Odometer shows ~84,000. I don't want to get rid of this car, but I just bought a house and am 23, don't think I can manage the insurance on this AND a winter car. Someone please give me a ballpark as to what it's worth. See my signature for details on the car itself. All the weak points have been repaired (water pump impeller, thermostat housing) when the new engine was put in (old engine was NOT blown, by the way.) I have GC RSMs but aren't installed yet. Would $18.5k be unreasonable?

Yes. If it doesn't have a salvage title due to the accident, $14-15k is tops, I'd say. If it's a salvage/rebuilt title, expect less..
Good luck!

Wow. Well I guess the answer is clear: let it sit in the garage with no insurance.

I'd take $12k with no engine.. or mods :)

I have been looking alot lately and I say if your car is in really good shape.......$15000.00
Now if your car is in great shape and with the right buyer maybe 16000.00.
But that just my thoughts

sounds like a sweet car. Problem with expecting almost $19K out of a 1995, is that you can get a nice 1997, maybe even a 1998 for that kinda money.

You may think that with a new motor the car would fetch more, but in most cases, swapping an engine on a car reduces its value, and that's not including the rear end work from the accident. I'd expect a solid $15K out of it, and not much more.

I would expect not a dollar more than $15k, your car is exactly what I'm in the market for so that is why I know that figure

Generally a 97 or 98 will not have the vader seats, LTW, OBD1, high flow intake manifold on it.. but you are right.. you could get a less clean newer car with a worn out engine and less power for the money i'm looking to get. I would disagree with the 'decreases it's value.' I do know the setup I have is highly sought after.

Thanks for the input anyways guys, now I don't need to second guess hanging on to my baby. Hope I am not coming across as defensive here... I just have much more invested in the car than 15k.
