OK my girlfreinds "guy friends" both have mustangs and my g/f just got a 98 mustang V6. Well her friends are so into mustangs and think they are the best thing since sliced bread. SHe loves them too..........these cars are slightly modded with exhaust , air intake. THey also have body kits with cheesy racing strips. Anyway she told them i have a 96 328i and i love bimmers and all and i keep telling her how mustangs aren't god when it comes to cars. Well her one freind said he wants to race me. ITs a 95 mustang GT , automatic transmission. I have a 96 328i...no mods except exhaust(which does pretty much nothing i assume) and yes unfortunatley i have a slush box. So my question is who would win? THe 95 mustang GT slushbox VS. 96 328i slushbox. I'm not afraid of losing but i just wanted to see your opinions. bob

Also don't u hate it when your girl points a bright yellow rice burner with body kit and says...........COOL!!!!!!! Ugh i cringe everytime.

It would be a close race, but you should barely take it until you get up in MPH then they will overtake you.

If you had a 5 speed you should beat it more...

THanks great site rob.....yea sometimes i wish i had a 5 speed but to tell you the truth i like the automatic. Except when racing.........but my next bimmer will def. be a 5 speed so i can get the best of both worlds.......thanks again for the reply.......bob

If you replace your chip, it will allow for the car to be more aggresive in terms of shifting. If you act now a chip can cost a couple hundred bucks. The install is very easy. Worth the effort, especially for an auto gearbox.

If you do a chip + intake, your exhaust suddenly makes more usefull sense.;)

Greg,

What chip do u recommend? I plan to get a chip and cold air intake in the future. Probably next xmas. This summer i'm going to spend my money on lowering and body kit. Any suggestions? Thanks for the reply

All the chips are speculation... Cars just like people respond to various changes differently.
Some cars over others prosper with just software changes.
If you are conservative, go with Dinan. His stuff does not void your warranty, so every time you go in for work, no one hufs and pufs.

I personally think Dinan's intake is the best. It reaches down into the front bumber to access cold air.
Cold air, if you are not aware, has a higher concentration of O2. More 02= more combustion =more horse power!:)
Other intakes suck in the hot engine air, which results in an actual loss of horse power.
When I had the Dinan intake prior to the Supercharger,
I used to remove my left for light to allow for more air to hit the intake filter.
I personally am the type to prefer doing the internal mods prior to the external mods.
I'd rather have a sleeper than a car that's all show and no go. Just my 2 cents!

Good Luck

Greg

Sorry to say but you're gonna get beat. I had a `97 M3/4 automatic and could barely beat an older 5.0 or newer 4.6L Mustang.

Close race... I have a 93 325i a/t. This was when I had the Jim C chip, M3exhaust, intake/ECIS. I raced 3 mustang GT's all mid 90's 5.0. from a standing start I lost to 2 by about 1/2 to 3/4 car lenght to 60 and then they would crawl away very slowly. The 3rd one had 3 or 4 people inside and I kept up all the way, until I slowed down. I did race another Mustang GT from 60 to 110mph. I got the jump and he was about 50 feet behind. We slowed and this time he got the jump but I was on him all the way. We took it up to 120, I was with him all the way, until he started to barely noticeably creep away from me.
