Hey all, I am new to the forum, and am the proud owner of a 2.5 Z4.

I got a question for you all, in your opinions, what do you think of the clear light options? I have the clear side markers and the clear 3rd brake light, and I am considering replacing the tail lights with the clear lights as well.

Let me know what you think...

Won't that look ricey? Are they just... huh... clear, but with the stock light's «texture», or clear like altezzas?

I've been conisdering the clears on the side indicators, I think they'd look good on my color. Possibly clear on the third brake light. Saw a picture of my color with the clear main brake lights, didn't like it at all.

I really dislike the clear tail lights on the Z4. W/o any color it just looks like something that would be better on a ricer civic imo.

(I'd prefer something that kept the red lights, but just changed the orange to clear, instead of changing the entire assembly to clear...I'm not sure which your refering to I guess, I think I've seen both or I could be wrong. :))

i dont' like the clear tails or 3rd brake, but i like the side indicators. i agree with hugo ... these are bmw's that have a certain amount of class not to be confused with honda mod happy chumps with no idea what their doing :complain

please note that you have to order the BMW face plate badge separate from the clear side indicator, when you order the indcator all you get is the clear plastic piece with the bulb and o-ring seal. You can cut the old badge off the orange indicator and reuse it, but it's a lot of work. You have to remove the old adhesive backing, after it's clean you can use clear silicone to attach it to the other indicator.

In my case I ordered the clear indicator with new badge; I use this on the street. For racing, I modified the OE orange indicators by removing the badge, used an exacto knife to cut the orange plastic shell from mount, then reattached the BMW faceplate badge to the mount. This puts the BMW badge flush with the fender; looks nice, but you lose the turn signal function.

Well, I just did it. Put the clear side indicators on the car... :)
Ordered mine thru Leather Z, got a pair of clears and the BMW badges came with it too.

got any pics, I'd be interested to see...are you doing clears all around or just the sides thus far?

I am doing my clears all around. I will post some pics when I get my car back from the dealer. They are painting and installing the rear deck spoiler on my car right now...

will be very interested to see the final resuts...

unfortunitly no...is it not a dealer installed option(for some reason I thought or was @ least hoping it was...)

It isnt? Hmm, I had my dealer install mine just last week. Are you saying that your dealer will not install the alarm on your z4?

no, I just infered from your post that it was a factory installed option, whereas I thought it was dealer installed(as you just said it was....was just confused there for a moment :))
