I have been in a bunch of races lately, I'd say within the past month I've raced as much as I raced from last May (when I bought my baby) to the beginning of March! Well, I was just out getting lunch and another ricer wanted to "prove" how "fast" (LOL!!) their car is! The slammed, and everything you could think of, done-up Neon ricer is in front of me and obviously wanting to race, so I follow him out to the highway. Once we're on the highway, we're behind a pack of cars, then we make our way through them, except I'm stuck behind a couple cars in the left lane, with cars to my right. Well, being the smart guy that he was, he decides to pass these cars in a turn lane and then proceed to floor it and take off, so really that was the start of the race. Meanwhile I'm still tryin to get in the clear to catch his ass (and I sure am not doin what he did), and so when I finally get open road ahead, he is atleast 20 cars ahead of me. I'm like, alright, I'm gonna make you look real stupid!! So, I drop it down a gear and nail it. I'm FLYIN up on his ass and eventually I pass him and get about 4 cars ahead of him and I look down and see I'm doin 130 (according to speedo that is, but isn't mine governed at 128?), so I lay off it and flash the hazards. He had just given up too about when I let off. Damn, I blew this dude off the road so bad; I wish I would have been able to race him from an even start, I could have put him 30 cars back, no joke. HA!! What do these ricers think?????? I've come to the realization that they REALLY think their cars are fast and can take anything, I swear they would race a twin turbo 911 if they had the chance, they are SO IGNORANT! To this day, I've met about 2 or 3 of them that weren't and actually knew their cars weren't fast, but that's about it. The others are on crack like nothin else! You can't help but laugh after you school the sh*t out of one like I just did!! So damn funny!!

Maybe they just want to see what your car can do. I''ll sometimes pick a race with a car I know will beat me just because it's fun to see a high performance car pushing its limits.

Nice :) Just look at what these guys and their friends drive, they don't have the $$$ to know what a car can really do.

i agree that some might want to see what thier car can do and also see another high performance car take off....i tried to get a ferrari 360 moderna(brand new) to race me on the highway but he wouldn't do it. I wanted to see that thing take off and smoke my measly 328 heheh. But then again some ricers really think thier car is fast. I know a kid with a civic that was telling me that he wouldn't race me till he got his exhaust if he ever would race me. I was like ok and that exhaust will make your car so much faster hahahah. Maybe they just don't know how fast other cars are whatever it is, i still think its fun to spank a ricer.:D

By the way have u guys seen the ads for "the fast and the furious" now there are some serious rice mobiles in that movie.

I actually made a step down in performance when I got my 328is, my old car was a Z28 with the LT1, and I had about $6,000 of mods in that car, it was a BEAST to say the least--I pounded cars like no other, including M3s. I had that car for 3 years, and the ONLY car to beat me was a 5.0 Mustang that actually wasn't a 5.0 liter, he had a 351 Windsor engine under the hood, plus Nitrous. He still didn't beat me bad, because I could hook up like crazy and I put over a car length on him off the start, but then he caught and passed me. Still, I beat cars like a new C5 Vette, so many Mustangs of all years and kinds that it is rediculous, other Z28's and Trans Ams, and just some fast cars, oh, also my brother's Twin Turbo Stealth, which is one fast ass car! Anyway, I was still surprised how fast my 328is is when I got it, because I wasn't expecting much out of a 6 cylinder. But, where I am now with intake, exhaust, and clutchstop, I actually am close to a stock Z28 w/ the LT1, and I think I could give one a good run. Still, I LOVE my 328is and wouldn't give it up for anything--it smokes my Z28 in every other category other than performance--there is just a HUGE difference between a Chevy and a BMW!!!!!!!!!!!:D ;)

OH, and I forgot to add...My 328is will one day be FASTER than my Z28 was too!!!!! I've got major plans for it including AA turbo kit, big differential, and other goodies to make it tear up the road!!!!:D

Even though it is "jap crap" hehe , i think it will be a cool movie. I wonder if they will just race other ricers or throw in some bmw's and what not. WHile i'm on the topic of movies......that movie with stallone and the indy cars looks cool too. I have a 328i also, well not two door, but i was wondering how much a turbo kit goes for and whats the deal with this differential thing i hear about on this board and bimmer.org board. Doesn't it cut down on fuel mileage at higher speeds and cut down on top speed? Is it good for the engine? Is it really worth it? and most important to me....how much does it cost? I recently went to a higher ratio diff. I have a 325is 5sp which comes stock with a 3.15 ratio. I go a diff from an automatic 325 which has a ratio of 3.91. The car now revs kinda high on the highway. I'm at 3700rpms at 70 mph, but the increased acceleration is incredible.

Do u know what my current diff. ratio is now on an automatic transmission 328? Also how much did it cost u to change the diff. ratio and would u recommend it? thanks for the reply......bob

All I know is that the automatic 325i has a 3.91 ratio and the 5sp has a 3.15 ratio. These diffs are easy to find at junkyards and cost anywhere from $300 for non-limited slip and $600 for limited slip. Unfortunately, I think you already have a 3.91 ratio diff and may have to pay alot more for a special diff that goes higher. I know they make 4.10's but don't know how much they cost. This mod was the best bang for the buck. It knocked a full second off my 1/4 mile time. That's like adding 100hp. ask around on the board, i got alot of help here.

Thanks tick..........i was just curious b/c i eventually want to make my car faster but right now i'm going to buy wheels in like two weeks and then this summer a body kit so i have to wait tilll i get some more cash before i start trying to modify performance.
