Hey guys. Just had a quick question about pad replacement on the brembo kits for E46 M3's. I have a front and rear setup on my car. They work great. I love them and have used them on the track with much satisfaction. I am currently running the pads that came with the brembo kit. The only thing that i dont like about them is that they squeek. Not always, but often. Its very annoying. I know that you can use all sorts of other pads with the brembo calipers, but the question is...can u change the pads without changing the rotors. I know that the dealer never replaces the stock pads without changing the rotors at the same time. Ive done one track day with them and approximately 650 miles of use on the street. Im just afraid because i have no past experience with BBK and dont want to do something that will screw them up. If i can swap the pads without changing the rotors, which pads would you guys recommend? Im running the Motul RBF600 if im not mistaken. Dont know if that makes a difference. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanx

PS: Ive made it overseas, and my car is on its way here by ship. Sending it by air turned out to be unpractical because i had a bunch of personal belongings i needed to send as well, so i just got a 40 foot container. Cant wait till my car arrives:bawl Mpilot, i know you are reading this. Mabrook on the airbox. Looks prettier than the first one we installed:12: Miss ur ass. Tell the guys that i say wuttup.

you do not need to replace the rotor along w/ the pads given the rotor is in good shape. but you do need to re-bed the new pads in tho. here's the article of how to bed in the pads >> http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

I believe Brembo comes w/ either HPS or HP+, right?? they are very streetable pads especially the HPS already!

I hope you are enjoying the Lebanease feasts arround you. Open that safe and get that .....

I know your M3 will be at home in Beirut. Good luck with all your +190 MPH runs.

As Landshark said it is possible to change to a different pad compound if the rotors are still new. Its never been the best to mix different pads on the same rotor, but given that you have only 650 miles, you should be good.

Try the Hawk HPS pads, these are more steetable and provide you with a good bite.

This Race airbox is nicer than the first one. Its finally on the new car and the power is just incredible.

Enjoy the kibee, we'll see you this summer.

Has anybody done this? The squeeking is annoying, but i dont wanna sacrifice my BBK system just cause i wanna get rid of the noise. Also, what pads do you guys recommend? The car will be used 90% on the street when it gets here. Ill probably take it to europe in the summer. Hit a few tracks and the autobhan as well. It would really suck if i replace the pads and they still squeek. Thats why i need some feedback from someone who has changed thier pads before. Thanks guys.

given the low mileage on the rotor (less than 800miles included the 1 track day), it will be ok to change different pads w/out changing the rotor!

as for the pads recommendation, I would suggest give Dave Z a call over at Zeckhausen.com he's one of the main brake man to talk to!

Hawk HPS is a very good "street" pads, low dust low noise! but can't take the track duty tho!

Thanx Landshark
I do have less than 800 miles including the track day. Im pretty sure that the rotor is still in top shape. What other pads do you guys recommend. Im actually coming back to the states (Miami) this week and wanted to pick up some pads while i am there. I am gonna have to get both front and rear pads because they both squeek like crazy. A friend of mine recommended Mintex, and Landshark recommends Hawk HPS. Just wanted to get a few more ideas before i made a decision. Thanx guys.

If you are coming to Miami... you should talk to Cobalt Friction. They are in Fort Lauderdale, and they are the resident brake experts. They can give you a pad to do exactly what you want.
