Leaving work yesterday, I'm hustling to make it to the post office before they close. As I leave work, I see a black SRT4... so I'm closing the gap ever so slowly while we make our way out of the complex.

By the time we make it to the main road, I'm right behind him. I pull wide to his left and it's the guy from before (there is a thread on the board about our last run). Suddenly... my rushing the post office is curtailed as we line up. Line up number one. He hits it... I drop 2nd and hit it... I get destroyed! Damn... traction control came on.

I regain my ground, but we have to calm down because of traffic. However, due to the time of day, it's getting packed because of traffic ... so we both cool our jets.

Then we get another chance to line up on the highway... mmmm, highway power :evil2. We line up about 50mph in 3rd gear (could've done 2nd gear, but the gear change probably would have hurt more than helped).

We hit it... I'm a little down on power and the car struggles momentarily so the SRT4 pulls some... but then the power comes on. M3 highway power starts to take the lead and by the time we shut it down... the SRT4 is about at passenger door.

SRT4 is definitely no slouch... it's definitely going to give my car a run for the money after some more mods are done. The mod list of the SRT4 is listed below. He's got plans of doing more mods in the near future...

Gotta give props to such a affordable fast car... oh... and damn, the exhaust on the SRT4 sounds pretty damn good too. While I was following him around for a while... thing was making all sorts of cool turbo sounds.

15lbs of boost (drops to 11psi of boost at redline)

What year srt was it? I was a passenger in an 04 last week, and let me tell you, that car has balls. With the driver and three passengers, it still has that throw back to the seat torque. It felt very similiar to my car.

It looks better than all the other ones I've seen.. do I dare say.. it actually looks good.. maybe it's just the black.. because every SRT-4 i've seen as been yellow or once that blue one that kept driving around a parking lot "car show" trying to be an attention whore...:rolleyes:

Yes the engine is the same exact thing as the PT cruiser, however the tranny is totally different. This engine has been tested well over 800 hp on the stock internals (crank / rods and pistons) :)

Yes that is 100 % stock body, actually I did added something new that is not in my signature..

WIth a $55 dollar "manual boost controller" he will pull on you, with his current set up (he needs to complete his exhaust, however) :awink:
Mopar Stage 2 he will walk on you... Too bad these things a fwd. But, for the $ there is NoThing better out there.

actually i think the pt cruiser is powered down by like 15 or 20 hp to 205 hp or something....my friend at home has an srt with a lot of work...we spank m3's and m5's wit 3 people in the car...hell one day in seaside nj he raced a 98 ferarri 355 and spanked it by a car length once he was at around 120 and he let off....car is sick i think he ran a 12.6 or something in the fall when the track was open...cant wait to see it in the spring when the new turbo is dropped in....that car really is insane for 20/21 grand...

That SRT 4 just screams WRX jr.

Pulls freight trains...it's a 5mph difference in trap speed. From a stop it's up to the SRT4 owner to not suck at launching. After that it's just shift...WRX stops pulling, shift again...WRX is next to the SRT4...shift again, WRX is 4 cars back at the 1/4.

He passed me as I was doing 70 - 75 like I would be standing still... The FWY was wide open - it was 2am... I dropped the car in 3rd and slammed it....
After a minute or so I was lined up with him, doing around 110...

He looked at me and started racing. I dropped the car to 4th, than 5th... We were pulling pretty even till 135, than I raped him bad. :buttrock

He could not catch me at higher speeds. When I finally slowed down he did the typical don't even look at the other guy pass him with 120 thing :biglaughb

Your 6 has longer legs that his 4, but his car is faster :rolleyes:

Thing is who cares if your 328 pulls that last 10 mph, by then the SRT would have you by about 2 buslengths from a stop or slow roll.:biglaughb

my freind took me in a ride in is 04. he is a big guy and me and my other buddy are big guys to. it still pulled like crazy. he would drop it and the front end would just get traction and we would take off.
we saw a zo6 burning out across an intersection, so my freind catches up looks over, nods drops it and got owned. it pulls pretty hard, but not that hard.

he upshifted to 5th at 50 and it stilled pulled all the way throught the rpm range. i like it for 20 grand.

They're great cars for the money. I get looks every time I run someone. Usually it's the "WTF" look :D

Black is definitely the best color for the SRT-4. Despite what other people say, I think it looks pretty slick.

It is an amazing car that can be so easily modded. People may diss it, but they are just pissed they got their ass handed to them by a Neon (no disrespect).

Hey...a year or two ago in one of the mags top 10 tuner car shootouts, Lingenfelter showed up with an AWD S-10 (Bravada transfer case) with a 427 in it. They said the other guys were kind of laughing about it until tore off a 0-60 in like 3.7...... The tranny broke while they were testing it so it failed to show in the rankings......

personally i would be hard torn between a new srt4 (all those disrespect issues) and a used S4... same cost, better car and better performance IMHO

got a few things to say about this thread (:D always do)

First, the SRT-4 engine is NOT the exact same as a PT Cruiser GT. It's the same block. Other than that, the engine is completely different. All top shelf parts. Tested block/crank strength of 1200HP.
Second, kevlar, I love how enthusiastic you are about the SRT.. I'm the same way about your car :D
and Third, HSG, what's your top speed? I know that at 110, if I drop to THIRD i'll pull hard and solid to 155 (haven't had to go faster than that yet) I don't doubt that your car may be tuned up higher (the SRT is a great sprint car, top end is good too, but not as robust) but I don't see how you could have 'raped' him that bad.. maybe it was an '03?

edit: oh yeah, my buddy has an '01 S4. I raced him off the line and from a roll, off the line, pretty even in first due to a shoddy launch, but 2nd and 3rd put about 2-3 cars on him. From a roll, around 50 the first time, and 75 the second, there was no race really.. just pulled away.

I'm on I595 & University Drive almost every Friday night from about 5pm to 9pm.

There is a huge BMW meet scheduled for Feb. 21st @ Markham Park @ 12noon. I bounce around the rest of Ft. Lauderdale & Miami throughout the course of the week.

They need to make a commercial for the SRT-4 that has a pic of the front end from a worm's view, With the letters "BYE." above the car...
