I'm totally in a hurry to get to work and I'm in a wife beater with my shirt and tie on the hanger looking like a scrub trying to get to work on time. This clown in a very nice Expo starts revving at me. He's got a sweet dual exhaust and everything. OK, can I finish my piece of pizza first, please?
I guess not, so I said to him "Would you like to race?"

He says "Yes!!, and, I'm supercharged, baby!" at my suprise...

OK, I'm ready, I guess.

Green Light...

Screeeccchhhh, 1st gear, all the way to red line, screeeccchhh all the way to redline 2nd gear and @ 65ish mph see ya, buh by, cuh mon now, stop it already, I whooped your ass. It's just amazing because like 2 miles down the road at normal speed I get the ricer fly-by. OK, Hey, he had a pretty nice SUV, and it sounded great too, but please.

Either way, I still got to test out my new tranny equipment while having a bone stock engine. The clutch grabs so hard and fast, I love it. At least I'll kow how to use it when I get my Turbo. Or at least hope so.

Weak kill - but I'll take it.

Hey, it still made my day!

Ha Ha,
cold and filling and soaked up most of the booze I drank while I was bartending that night, that's for sure!

Thanks for asking. Wanna know some REAL bartender stories?

If you write them, people will definitely read them (I know I will).

I don't know man, it's a lifestyle for me, like( whatever it is that you do), I feel that it's as boring as the next guy.

Bartending in Miami is pretty cool and vigorous, but for some of these 9-5ers it might seem kinda sac-relig, you know what I mean?

Sue Me,
I am in the search for a new daily driver though.
Besides, I've adopted the "If I mess it up, I'll just replace it" mentality anyway. OOPS, I messed up the leather with pizza, I guess I'll have to buy some custom racing shells now, damn.

wouldn't it be 'expy' or 'expe'? 'expo' sounds like a conference or something.... ;) :D

Had me stumped too there for a sec, I was searching the back of my mind trying to associate it with one of the new Japanese "compact" vehicles ( Pilot ):D

It probably should be "Expy", but say out loud and it sounds a little, you know, out of place. Like it should be said with a lisp.

"Wanna go for a ride in my new Expy?"

Nah, I don't swing that way sailor.

That's for sure, but it's just an expression like we have "bimmer" instead of "BMW"

BTW, Dave, how's your car and hand(I think) coming along in the healing process? I don'y always get the chance to read all the updates.

just giving you a hard time, ben.... :D

the car is undergoing a rebuild, engine is toast. the hand underwent it's rebuild last week (surgery) and is doing well, it's healing quickly, and i hope to be rid of this cast within 10-14 days, so i can get the smaller cast on, which will be much more functional, allow for more movement, and allow me to drive again.

then 3-4 weeks in that smaller cast, then a brace, and physical therapy begins. i'm getting there...

thanks for asking :)

Yeah, I've been sporting 7 pins and a plate in my left arm for about 5/6 years now. Wait untill you swing a golf club again. My handicap dropped by 15 after my surgery, WTF? At least I can break 95 now, Ha.

Well, with his hand in a cast, hand jobs are impossible. Getting head is the only possibility. This IS what you meant, right?

no pins here, ben, thankfully....

greg, head is getting better. no more temporary hearing loss, dizzyness, blurred vision, nausea. but i still have a constant headache, although it's no longer migraine-grade, and i still experience some 'zone-outs' from time to time, but with less frequency recently...

My buddy has a supercharger on his 2v 4.6 liter 99 stang. It's pretty fast and it only cost him about $3000 + install.

Why on earth would you S/C an Expedition? A Ranger or Explorer maybe, but a big 7000lbs beast? Maybe if you were trying to Get the miles per gallon into the gallons per mile range......

Huh... to make it faster, maybe?

He's not talking about the Excursion. The Expedition weighs around 5500 lbs, which is Cayenne/Touareg territory, IIRC.

Did he think the supercharger would not only negate the >2,000lb difference, but even give him the edge?

I don't understand the mentality of some people out there.

Exactly, I mean HE was trying to bait me. Meanwhile, I've got the AC and the radio on, not in the racing mentality at all.

But, on the other hand, if he hadn't baited me, we never would have raced. It's all in good fun though.

I guess you'd blow an Expedition for the same reason you'd by a Durango with a hemi. Hopefully, the guy wasn't silly enough to think he'd win.

You can get an Expedition with curb weight < 4,900 pounds. That's less than my dad's 78 T-Bird if I recall correctly. The older "Expos" are getting low enough in price you might run into a sleeper with weight reduction and something dangerous under the hood.
