Hi,

Well I got my used M3-e46 20000km. Dives fine with a couple of glitch but its alright.

While i was playing with the odometer reset button I notice the console (speed and tachometer unit.. I dont how you call it) is not fixed properly. Its woobling a bit up and down.. Is it something that is a normal thing that happend with time or maybe someone tried or did dismount the console and changed the odometer counter.

Wouldnt BMW have some good protection against these kind of tamper.

i remember my 98 528 had the same thing. you could move it up and down a tad by holding onto the plastic cover. I would attribute it to imprecise fitment rather than tampering

While not impossible... BMW has taken extra care to make it more difficult than your avereage car to mess with the odometer reading. The odometer reading is stored in two places. One in the instrument cluster and it is also store in the light control module (LCM). Not sure why they decided to store it there, but they have their reasons. If either number does not match up accordingly a light will appear on the instrument cluster and a fault triggered in the LCM.

you can give your vin to any BMW dealer and check out the mileage on the record.
on the side, what about tire wear? if it's continential, it's probably stock, which it should be for your mileage. good luck!
