Most preferably match the stock look and amber lighting but just curious what most of you have anyways.

Alpine 7894. Amber lighting, black face, blackout feature. best unit for the money. unfortunately, not made anymore. check ebay

Question, was that 7894 enough to power your front speakers or did you have a seperate amp for that? I'm looking ot get a sub in the back and just an amp to power that and hope my head unit can power the rest of the speakers. Am I asking too much? Its not a bad price... How does the 7940 rank with that since I don't need mp3 playing?

I think that this CD Player is one of the best looking CD Players for an E36. It just blends in so perfectly! It is completely black when you turn it off. It looks just like you took out your face.

Wait for the new Alpine 9833 and 9835 (a whole new lineup actually)... will have 512 colors you can choose from for the colors.. AND... will control an iPod! Due out in March... I just got a 2004 Alpine brochure today, but you can go to their site and see the units and specs...

RIO Empeg 12Gig Mp3 player, with an amber lens, and it matches the dash lights perfectly.

I have had mine for 2 yrs, and 2 other friends of mine have ones, these things are the best things out there, and none of us have ever had a single problem !

I have over 1500 mp3's stored on the hard drive, all grouped into different folders. I can pull up any song I want at the touch of a few buttons.

hey im not dissing it. Im sure it does the job great. Some decks are just meant more for performance than looks.

Does it have Digital Xovers, Time Correction, Sub Control, Equalizers?

What are some models of Eclipse that have amber lighting and are good for the BMW?

It has multiple equalizers that you can store and change sound at the touch of a button.
Depending on how you want your stuff to sound. The EQ has Frequency, Gain, and Q Factor settings that can all be changed. Loudness control, and all the other usual controls.

This is defintely not just for looks. Sorry if it sounded like I was being defensive. It's just that most people don't know much about these because they are hard to find now, since Rio stopped making them.

Eclipse doesn't have any models with amber display. A definitie shortcoming to an otherwise great product.

Alpine CDA 9815...great head unit but it does not have amber lighting.

Hi, I take it your 7894 is not up for sale? Tried contacting you but got no response.

I have a JVC KDSH99 and I love it. Very clean output and simple to operate. The D/A converters are audibly superior to those in an Alpine I had prior to it. Both CD and MP3 sound extremely good through it.

I wish it came in anodized black instead of aluminum, but at least it's real aluminum. I had the bezel custom painted black so when I remove the faceplate, there isn't a silver bezel that stands out in the dash.

this deck is the shit , looks like a regular head unit with the head down. Combine with a signal processor for 4 4-6 volt outputs and optical inputs
