Can't really decide what material the dash and door armrests is...seems like a rubber? As it doesn't really feel like leather(or is it?) & I'd assume it to be some synthetic material except in the extended leather editions...

Clearly, we are going to need two Z4 members for this forum to work! ;)

well I guess I could try to limit my questions to those that I already know the answer, then I can at least post an answer to my question :)

lol- 2 people might be beneficial...should pick up next summer perhaps when people start buying more roadsters again :)

I believe the dash material is made from weapons grade plutonium - 239. Unfortunately in 24,100 years, your dash will be half the size from alpha decay.

I am just guessing though - I don't have a Z4.

got pics of what you are referring to?

Not a very good pic...but what I'm refering to is the material shown in the pic that is on the armrest portion- I know the rest of the door is coverered in leather, but this material feels more rubbery(though in appearance it looks somewhat akin to the dotted leather on the pre-00 Z3's(though much much more of the dots and closer together....)

lol- guess I'm not great @ describing...just was curious & tryin to spark some Z4 discussion heh

Isn't that the material of all BMW dashboards on the current models? (not the Z3 or coupes)

some of us work all day, Hugo, and only have a few minutes to check the forum a day ... but your humor is appreciated. And to anyone who has the beige interior, anyone with black shoes is not your friend. Whatever the material is, it is very hard to get a scuff out.

I was kidding dude, all in good fun.

Scuff marks even show up on balck surfaces, kinda like a flat black streak, I can't imagine in a brand new being interior. I'd go berserk.

I did, but it came out and that person doesn't ride anymore. I also found that the driver seat when moved to the fully foward position will leave some grease on your carpet. The passenger side doesn't do it because the formed carpet is lower on that side. So beware of that too fellow z4 owners ... even though only 3 of you are on this forum. :)

Five here.:)

And I think it's the "leatherette" that is on the base seats (though it probably feels a bit different on a soft seat and stretched across hard surfaces).

That leather looks like a type of leather trim I've seen in MINI Cooper S's. The MINI's seats are made of that material I think

That is the "leatherette" stuff. Can you put Armor All on it? Or what would you clean/shine that up with?
