While talking to an Alpine Tech this morning about trying to interface my factory Alpine CD Changer with a 9815 HU (no way no how he told me):( I got some good news...

Alpine is coming out will all new HU's and they will have a 200+ color matrix.. meaning you will be able to select just about any color you can imagine for the display! SWEEET!!! I am gonna wait till they come out and not buy the 9815 then...

Good news for all of us that want Alpine with colors to match our interiors!

Yeah, but they're making most of their faceplates in freakin' silver now. The colors match, but not the plastic...

Go to their site and click on products, then HU and look for 9833, it is black...

Their retail is $450 on the 9833... an the 9815 shows retail for $500 and I can get that all day long for $349 online.. so I will suspect the new one will be around the same...

I still have no idea on what to do with the sub box.. I really don't want to add a ton of weight.. still mulling it over.. will do it this spring/summer. First I am gonna do my GC coilovers and sway bars, probably in March sometime..

There's no 9833 on the alpine-usa site. It only has the 03 models. I've seen two 04 models, including the 9820XM and they're both silver.

Perks of being an EE, i'm not waiting on anyone :D I have already converted 3 alpines over to full amber for bmw guy's locally using amber SMD's. :)

Hey does the 9815 have this option too? Do the buttons change or just the display? I just bought my 9815(not installed yet) and i wasnt sure.

One, can you help me with this? I am not an EE but very good with a soldering gun, solder wick and heat shrink tubing.

One, how about a DIY write up? I'm getting a new alpine unit that doesn't have amber lights. I'd greatly appreciate some help on turning the lights to amber. Thanks!
