There was this pic posted once in the Z3 section, a p-shopped one of course, and it looked so good. Why didn't Bangle go with this...
I wish I liked the Z4, I really do, I don't like hating stuff, especially cars. But I can't. The interior, although very cold, is nice in a way. Very esthetic. Very pure. I like it. Feels like a much better quality than the Z3's flimsy interior. But the rest... bleh...
Hey, at least there's a subwoofer to route engine noise in the cabin in the 3.0, and the first models to roll out of the assembly line were slushboxes. BMW's got their priorities straight. :12:
smofo 01-23-2004, 12:09 PM very, very nice blue Z4.. I love all BMW's even the 2002, what a car that was

Somehow, I knew Hugo was a "closet" Z4 dude...
1BMW2VWs 01-23-2004, 09:48 PM Nice Z4 Will. However, I like em better with some bigger wheels. nice start though!
As for Hugo, I think he needs a raspberry beret... the kind you find in a second hand store. :D

and by the way i'm the 3rd z4 owner in the new z4 scetion just to let you know ridgeway
LOL!
I didn,t know I was such a legend... in a bad way! :az: :D
Well, to say that I'm warming up... I'm warming up to the owners who really are enthusiasts and who don't have this holier than thou attitude and who won't try to compare the Z3 and the Z4. Except if they want to fit a Z4 rear suspension on a Z3. Then, they can compare all they want. Need a guinea pig? :12:

Only been here a week or so and perusing the messages from the three Z4 owners (myself being one of the three), I haven't seen any holier than thou messages comparing the Z4 to the Z3. I have seen a lot of messages on some of the other boards from Z3 owners comparing their divine Z3's to the butt ugly Z4.... :12:

If you search the history a ways back from the Z4 intro, I'm sure you'll find more z4 v z3 comments, though I think by now most people are warming up to the Z4, and I think the vast majority of people respect the superior handling of the stock z4...

It's a lot more agressive with those wheels and when it's that clean. That is one clean car there. It's not quite growing on me, but it does look good.

Actually, the Z4 crowd has been nice to me despite all my past hatred towards the car, and I'm thankful for that. I now respect it a lot more, and I apologize for all my past childish behavior, even though I don't like the car looks. A car enthusiast is a car enthusiast, and shall be respected as such.

No, those are the Euro tailights, they only use a white tailight spot on one side.

Why?
Oh, and TeamZ4, on the second pic you posted, what is this metal thing under the car?
TeamZ4 02-19-2004, 07:25 PM I believe that's a rear fog light, seem to recasll some discussion on it, only sent on Euro and possibly other non-US cars for some reason
that is the mufflerless race exhaust you see under the car. It comes out of the exhaust manifolds into an X-pipe, then then turns 45 deg and exits the dual 2" open pipes out the side just in front of the right rear wheel. The hanger needs some work. it's flexed and allowed it to hang down too far. I did it this way for the max. weight savings, but have been considering changung into a Y-pipe with a single 3" pipe all the way out the back ala TCKline Z4's
Ah, ok. Why don,t you have it exit at the rear?
TeamZ4 02-20-2004, 09:54 AM Originally posted by Hugo

it's a lot more pipe and also a PITA to snake it around the rear subframe. The Z4 routing is not as straightforward as the Z3. There are a bunch of odd angles, which when you're hand cutting mandrel bends and splicing it all together is a lot of extra work. The current exhaust weighs approx. 5# total compared to 50# for the OE system
I'll probably break down and do it this year though, I spent most of my dialing everything in last year. I was mainly trying to see what the rock bottom weight I could get it to in Stock class trim;
2,850# :alright
cbnZ4roadster 02-27-2004, 08:13 PM this is my car guys ... hope you enjoy.
cbnZ4roadster 02-27-2004, 08:20 PM yea ... attach didn't work so hot the last time. the file's are way too big. they will be up later
TeamZ4 02-28-2004, 01:27 AM try a freeware program called Irfanview, you can resample them down easily

Mate! The side exhaust thing is pure hotness! Now cut a nice hole into your side skirt so it fits snug, with some nice polished tips. The M3 E46 GTR does the same, and it looks absolutely crazy!!!
Do you get what I mean?
Or will I be forced to put up pics?

Yeah, I've had mixed feelings about them so far. Some friends highly recommended them. So far, the only problems I've had were:
1. A slight rattle (window a bit loose) when the passenger door is closed which I noticed shortly after I picked it up, but they couldn't look at without a scheduled appt. (three weeks)
2. A flat tire which, to their credit, they replaced right away ( 2 hours in the waiting room ), but they still wouldn't look at my window while I was in for that unless I made a new appt.

Wow they made you make an appt, and the soonest they gave you was 3 weeks?
Thats absurd...
When my parents first switched to BMW from Lexus, they/we were warned that service would be much slower(claimed that it was b/c so many more Bimmers were on the road than Lexus'), & @ first it was, but it's gottent better- maybe your dealer is just alot busier but I havn't had a problem getting an appt the same week or on occassion just running in w/o one and having them look @ something...making you wait 3 weeks w/a new car almost warrents a complaint imo.
Anyways welcome to the board.

I didn't want to make a big deal about it. I'm sure I could have gotten some attention if I had called the sales manager, but they were relatively nice about it even though they couldn't get me in (It's amazing what a little niceness will do).
I traded a Celica for the Z4, and Toyota (and I'm sure Lexus is similar) was amazing. My dealer had a "Jiffy Lube" type set up. You'd drive up without an appointment and, in generally less than 45 minutes, they'd change the oil, lube the chasis, fill all fluids etc. When I was due for a more extensive service (35,000 miles I think) they drove it around to their service area and had it back to me within an hour and 15 minutes after I had first arrived. That was the longest I ever spent there.
SilverStreak 03-06-2004, 05:39 PM Gary, if you need a good local mechanic for things like oil changes, etc, let me know, I know some good folks local to us...

Thanks! Since routine maintenance is supposed to be covered, I think I'll give them a chance for at least the first few services (and make sure I make an appointment well in advance), but I may take you up on that later.
