Sorry guys -- Gotta vent. (Wiseguy -- no offense)

I mean there are a whole bunch of us who use Roadfly and this forum equally. So to polarize the group of users by bad mouthing the board that people who post and enjoy as well as this one isn't going to help in the big picture. Credibility is earned by having something credible, not by discrediting other things.

Folks who post in both places have to listen to the anti - roadfly propaganda. That's going to turn them off. GOOD you say? Well then if this this forum wants to get anywhere close to the traffic that roadfly enjoys, it has to embrace everyone. There is way less bad-mouthing of Bimmerforums on Roadfly than the reverse.

Another reason is that there is a huge wealth of information on roadfly. The repository of links on www.e38.org POINT TO ROADFLY posts. I mean, if it weren't for roadfly for that original forum, many of us e38 newbies over the last year would not have found all those "HOW TO's".

How quickly people forget -- until they need help from one of those.

This board will not be as useful as a repository as long as the attraction is more of a club than a resource.

I dunno... Getting disgusted with the US vs. Them crap from this side. I don't care who posts where. And I LOVE a good skirmish here and there. But I will defend the virtue of each locale endlessly in the face of short-sighed viewpoints.

I was not aware of BF members badmouthing RF.
Personally, RF has some policies that are bizarre in my mind, and I made it abundantly clear that RF is their forum and they can do as they please, without me.
I never advised anyone to not post there, nor have I bad mouthed them privately.
My comments about RF have been public and I felt as though I have conducted myself as a gentleman. I don't recall bashing them on a personal level nor have I commented about anyone that wishes to post there and here as well.
If this assessment is wrong, please enlighten me.
If I owe someone an apology, I will act accordingly.

I too frequent both boards, but clearly RF is worse for those who have left...

That said, I think that any "bashing" that gets targeted at RF is directed at the moderators, and nobody else. And, from some of the stories that have been recanted here, there are times when they have deserved it, it appears.

I will continue to spend time on both boards (schedule permitting), and I don't have any prolem admitting it. Nor do I feel slighted by RF comments made here...but that's just me.

Time for a group hug.

Whatever Jerk. What you call drama, I call courage. You don't know me well enough to judge my motives. I was looking to vent and there was a constructive motive. Just as you think I should chill, you should apply that same guidline and tolerate the rant.

Personally, I enjoy many of the individuals here but I don't dig the, "top 10 reasons why one is better than the other". I LIKE the author of the post ALOT -- just don't agree with it. No offense to Bill, but this wasn't first and it won't the be the last bash by many here of the "other forum." Again -- his post was the catalyst not the only.

SIMEON -- Wasn't referring to you bud. It was the post by my friend Bill that was the cause of the rant. If I was too vague -- that's the genesis of my spazz attack. NOT anything YOU did or didn't do.

If this board's best feature is to pontificate about how much we hate other boards and/or why they suck than what does that say to you? Simeon? Anyone?

Interesting -- If you are that concerned about what's going down here from a big picture / long term view, it may be prudent to speak up when YOU see fit and protect it's integrity.

I guess it's just that I was referring to the US vs. Them mentality that is growing here when I'm trying to simply read posts about e38's. I just spoke out against it and now I'm left to defend my rant, right or wrong. I don't think I was totally off base in my observations of this groundswell of negativity here against Roadfly. Whether the anti-roadfly posts should bother me or anyone else is not a right or wrong debate. I agree with the Jerk in that there is a time to chill. I'm getting there now.

But the point is that if I felt annoyed by this crap, someone else does. It's ironic that it will actually let newbies know there is another board and could drive them to check it out. Or they could think, what's wrong with this board that they have to spend their time bashing the other board. Maybe what they have to contribute isn't substantial? NOT my thoughts, necessarily.

I dunno. It's a bit discouraging. I hope to continue to post in both places too as I like reading and posting with the folks in both places.

OK. I found the post you mentioned. I didn't see it until just now. Personally, I will not get involved with that specific post because of my issues with the manner in which RF's management team operates.

That being said, we, BF, would be guilty of the same practices RF engages in if Bill's post were to be deleted or edited.
Bill did not personally attack anyone and so I have little choice in the matter...

Once again, personally, such a debate isn't worth much time and effort in my view, but hey you guys want to discuss RF vs. BF, be my guest...please, just keep it civil.

No problem -- but it all makes sense now? I was commenting on the caustic anti-roadfly CLIMATE here -- not what you may or may not have said. Just because I brought it up doesn't mean I can't laugh about that thread, this thread, you, me or fart polls!!!

Seriously Though: The subject is quite timely, as you know, because a bunch of Roadfly members have followed your lead (did you hear I said lead -- not SUGGESTION) and have chosen to leave Roadfly. That's great. Two boards is better th an 1!!! But this caustic anti-roadfly climate is is all the more offensive to people who frequent both and were nice enough to give bimmerforums a shot. It also discredits the stuff here.

My God. Nobody suggested you or anyone delete anything. I never even engaged you -- you engaged yourself. I would hope you wouldn't delete or edit anything.

I don't think there was anything in Bill's post worthy of censorship. Besides, that thread needs to stay for this one to make and damn sense -- if it does at all anyway.

Short of personal attacks -- I agree with a no delete policy.

Over time, the quality of the content will win.

I hit four or five boards regularly, and see a lot of familiar names wherever I go.

I think part of the problem stems from when you get a lot of casual users at one site or another who FINALLY realize that the quality of content has changed and they don't see the usual suspects posting anymore.

I get three emails a week asking where people went and I'm sure Reed and David get a helluva lot more than that.

It'll continue to happen for a few months. I don't think everyone's rehashing the issues, I think people are just figuring out WTF happened in early December.

Yup -- I hear ya loud and clear.

But this place is pretty good too. Cool interface, smart e38 people and sometimes some GREAT senses of humor.

It will pass. The only thing I wanted to say was that there are those of us who like both this place and roadfly and I was starting to feel like the enemy because I liked them both.

I'm strongly considering those from http://www.xenonfactory.com because they use hella ballasts with integrated ignitors and real phillips bulbs which are rebased.

I should have said both philips ballasts and bulbs. Thoughts?

Either I haven't looked at HID prices in way too long or they only sell a bulb at a time and not by the pair as their price is half as much as I would have expected.

I've always heard Phillips' ballasts and bulbs are the ones to get.

Yeah. Right. Like bloody hell I was. Oh, wow.. maybe I get a deal or two a year out of this.. and since they're guys off the boards I'll sell the cars for cheap.

So say I sell 2 cars and make $1,500-2K grand total. Wow.

Let's see.. an hour or so a day.. x 300 days say...

$1,500 for 300 hours work. MAYBE. Oooh! Hey, I can get richer at McDonald's! ;)

Good point. He's 5 1/2 months old and he's just under 100 lbs. There is something wrong with a 100lb puppy just getting rid of his razor sharp puppy teeth galloping through the house. It's like having a crazed pony inside.
