Hi All,

I'm thinking about trying out Autox'ing w/ my local scca. I'm trying to find out what class is my car in. I have a '99 M Coupe. It is completely stock except for a pair of Ground Control Rear Shock Mounts. (As you guys know the main reason for going w/ aftermarket RSM's is to not have to hassle changing it every couple years. But that's another story...) So would GC RSM's bump the car out of it's stock class?

Thanks.

Mike

Not sure on your answer, but are you coming out for the 1st? Should be a lot of fun!

Hope to see you there.

You might check this out.
http://www.sff.net/people/dburkhead/prepcompare.htm

it says shock bushings are free in stock classes
"Any shock absorber bushing (not offset)"

I'm not sure if that means you can run the GC's though.

I don't know if I will be able to make it out for the 2/1 autox. I haven't joined yet, but I will be mailing my check out this coming week. If I do, I'll see you there.

I'll assume I'll be stock for now until someone figures it out. I'm not willing to change in stock bushings. For the M Coupe you would have to take apart every single interior piece from the seat belts back (including the seat belts). Yikes!!!

Thanks.

I don't think it should be a problem. And if it is out of a class, you won't have problems at a regional event. I don't think anyone at SFR is a big enough jerk to contest a car over a RSM... I can think of very little performance benefit to such. But if its out of class, its out of class.

If you fax in your application and then call the office, they can fax you back a proof of membership. Otherwise, the membership card take about 3 weeks to ship.

Hope to see you out!

It's technically not legal. The bushing in the shock is free, but new brackets like the ground control are not. However, as others pointed out, for local events this isn't really a big deal, and I wouldn't sweat it. thats just IMHO though.

Yeah, and even at national events, I don't think you would have too much of a problem with it.

As it may be, you'll probably find some weaknesses in the cars performance that you want to correct about halfway through your first season anyway. I highly recommend Ground-Control!!!

I don't think I have much to worry about people protesting my GC RSM, since I'll probably finishing around last place in my group :D .

Thanks for the info.
