There is a BMW meet scheduled at Markham Park for all your South Florida people. Saturday @ 12:30pm. We will have a BBQ... so if you want some food, bring something and throw it on the BBQ. Bring your own drinks and whatever festivities you want.

Photographers will be on hand for pictures... so make sure your cars are clean. Parking will be on the grass...

Just bring your own food and refreshments ... this way there is something you want to eat. I don't mind bringing a bag of charcoal for the grill ... but bring your own food and drinks.

Maybe something to consider in the future is holding an event on Sunday so the people that work on Saturday can attend

I’m not complaining just a friendly suggestion

Kevlar
02-09-2004, 08:22 PM
Yeah, but then the people that have to work on Sunday can't attend. It's a toss up... next one will be on a Sunday.

I'll see you guys all over there.

Found this info:

Info on Markham Park :

Opened in 1973, this sprawling 666-acre park is perched at the edge of the Everglades Conservation Area, which is accessible from one of the park’s two boat ramps. A series of interlocking lakes offers opportunities for fishing (freshwater fishing licenses may be required for ages 16 and up) and the use of personal watercraft, and there’s a swimming pool complex with mist pool, snack bar, lockers, and showers/restrooms.

One of the site’s most prominent features is its outdoor target range, built in 1984. The complex includes 50-yard and 100-meter lighted rifle/pistol ranges, lighted skeet/trap fields, a mile-long automated sporting clays course, computerized 5-stand, and a clubhouse with snack bars and a meeting room.

Among the park’s other distinctive amenities are the Fox Observatory, a model airplane field, and a mountain bike trail. A large campground includes 86 sites for RV and tent camping, eight with full hookups and 78 with water and electricity. Primitive group camping is also available by reservation to nonprofit groups.

Athletic facilities include a tennis/racquetball center, a biking/jogging path, and volleyball areas. Bikes and boats are available to rent, and there are nature and equestrian trails.

Two 120+ capacity and three 60+ capacity picnic shelters -- all with grills, tables, and water, two with electricity -- are available for rental, and there are other picnic tables and grills scattered throughout the park. A 1,600-square-foot clubhouse adjacent to the target range can also be rented.

Hey Kevlar,

Karl told me he spoke with you about this meet, and he is suggesting to the AA gang that we should all go too. We will be coming with a tent , some chairs, a bunch of parts and accessories at special prices and software upgrades at special prices too. I think this is a great thing for the BMW south fl. community. Any particular area where we should be parking?

I'm still working on the exact location in the park... give me a call on Saturday morning and I can give you a definite location. On Saturday morning, I am going up to the park early to secure a spot as a safety precaution if the meet organizer cannot acquire a rented area.

The park isn't that big... I'm sure we'll be somewhere easily visible. I don't have an exact location yet. I'm still trying to find the guy who set this up to see if he rented a pavilion or if we'll be in one of the grassy areas.
