There are so many interest threads can anyone with a S/C 3series help.
1-I have read that ASA and AA pull better thru the rpm range where the ESS kicks in at higher revs.
2-Scary stuff when dealing with ESS via norway, shipping ect...
3-Do you need software to get the most out of your S/C i may be wrong but ASA's don't come with it...
4- Best place $ and service to buy I live in Canada but will order worldwide.
5-Best kit as far as fit and finish and installation.
6-Have read that ESS don't put out what they claim.
7-Any bad experiences with any of the above Manf.
8- Do places like rennsports ASA kit differ from someone elses ASA kit?
9- I am completely stock...do I need anything else once I S/C?
10- Why does the AA need and intercooler and the ESS doesn't?

Hopefully this will be the thread that all other newbies but a sincere bimmer lover will refer to when it comes to S/C.

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for your comment and I have probably spent 30 hrs enjoying the threads here, on e46fanatics and other sites and felt I need some clarification before I made my decision.

Before you even decide on a s/c system talk to your local shops. Some might be more familiar with installing certain systems. The worst thing you can do is buy a system and then not being able to find a competent person to do the install. Of course if you plan on doing it yourself ignore everything I just said.

I've got an ess SC on my e36 328. Installed it with some help from my dad who's a mechanic.
No real problems with the kit apart from there was a bolt missing and I pulled a thread recently on the oil pressure switch location which wasn't helped by the fact that the banjo bolt used is a little too short.
The vortech based kits generally don't have an intercooler, there's very little space for the plumbing. The RMS kit use a air/water cooler, but it's very pricey and in my opinion seems a bit too small. The AA SC is very small and is not able to give the same kind of boost possible with the vortech, but means it is easier to fit in the IC pipes. The vortech is quite efficient so it isn't absolutely necessary to run a cooler at standard boost.
Hans at ESS is a pretty helpful guy, I've been on the phone to him many times for advice.
Check out the articles on ESS web site. It has a link to a guy who's fitted a kit to his 330 and supplied a very detailed installation manual.
Getting the ESS kit worked out reasonably cost effective from the UK.
