View Full Version : Peeps in SoCal Want to replace RTABS!!!
sergs99m3 01-16-2004, 01:24 AM Hey guys I just recently got my rtabs (rear trailing arm bushings) replaced and wow what a big difference with new oem bushings and Ground Control Inserts. My uncle Who owns a bmw and mercedes service shop is now offering my friends here on bimmerforums in SoCal if anyone wants to get this done let me know he is offering:
New oem bmw rtab and installation for 200 even. And if you would want the GC Inserts you would have to buy them yourself and they will put them on for you. They did mine and I asked him alot of the members want to get this done aswell so here it is.
His shop is in Garden Grove called Car Emporium his name is Serge. If anyone is intrested let me know so we can get this done. Thnx Serge
Aguapolo17 01-18-2004, 12:30 AM I want mine installed. I'm in Orange, and I work in Garden Grove. If I already have my own new RTABs, would he do it for like $125? I need to buy the G.C. Inserts still, but I REALLY want mine installed ASAP. Let me know.
Jeff
EngineeredBLUR 01-18-2004, 02:45 AM I might be interested as well
Silex 01-18-2004, 02:57 AM so what does replacing the RTAB's do? I thought later year M3's don't really have that big of a deal with them?
sergs99m3 01-18-2004, 04:27 PM ok guys today my uncles shop is closed but on monday i will let u guys know thnx serge
Estoril4dr 01-18-2004, 09:07 PM Whats the GC insets for, and how much do they cost.
sergs99m3 01-18-2004, 09:19 PM check their website
Estoril4dr 01-19-2004, 02:13 AM already checked the site but they provide no desciption or explanation on what they do and why i should buy them.
sergs99m3 01-19-2004, 04:32 AM ground control inserts stiffen up the rear trailing arm bushings and plant the rear down or so i was told and have experienced it. use these with the oem bushings.
Estoril4dr 01-19-2004, 05:42 AM thanks! does GC or any other company sell RTAB. Or is the oem one the way to go.
RacermeX 01-19-2004, 08:52 AM How much for the labor only?
sergs99m3 01-19-2004, 04:53 PM labor only will be 175
serge
sergs99m3 01-19-2004, 04:54 PM we can also do any major repair and maintenance on bmw's so let me know what you guys want to do
Aguapolo17 01-19-2004, 05:04 PM I am pretty sure I'll be up to get my RTABs replaced with the GC inserts. I only need the labor. Also, my oil drain plug area is leaking a little. Think he'd be able to find an oversize bolt or something (perhaps he could rethread it with a bigger bolt)? I don't want to pay to have the pan dropped and everything, but if it comes down to that, I guess I'll have to. How much would you guess fixing that would run?
sergs99m3 01-19-2004, 05:11 PM he said that he will enlarge the hole and put an insert to be the same size hole as before and plug it up with the same bolt he said hell do it for 55 dollars. let me know serge
Aguapolo17 01-19-2004, 09:16 PM Sounds great. I'll let you know as soon as I get the GC inserts in, so I can make an appointment.
M Rob 01-19-2004, 09:18 PM If you guys are interested in doing this as a Installfest kind of thing, I can offer special pricing on GC RTAB shims for you.
sergs99m3 01-19-2004, 10:08 PM ok cool if u guys are intrested in the gc shims talk to m rob for good prices and we can do the installs thnx serge
RacermeX 01-20-2004, 06:07 AM What are the shims for?
CHAMBMW 01-20-2004, 09:39 AM so $200 for parts and labor?
i already have the GC shims, got it for 60 bucks from M3Motorwerks.
sergs99m3 01-20-2004, 05:04 PM yup 200 for parts and labor
CrayzeeM3 01-20-2004, 06:04 PM interested let me pick up a set of GC shims. Hold up.
sergs99m3 01-20-2004, 06:23 PM ok let me know guys
Sinned 01-20-2004, 07:05 PM I think the bushings themselves are like $50 bucks...so if he is willing to do it for $150 just for labor, for those who already have the parts, then I'm interested...ask him about that, as it seems like alot of people have the parts in hand...
sergs99m3 01-20-2004, 07:22 PM the parts are 32 dollars total and its like 36 from the dealer if you get them he gets a better deal or even better than 32 but he will do it for 170 if u have the parts thnx serge

Where'd you place your order?
Aguapolo17 01-26-2004, 09:18 PM I'm all ready to bring my car in. How long will it take if I bring it in first thing in the morning on say Thursday? That is to replace RTABs with GC shims, and to fix that oil drain plug. I'd also like to have a thing or two checked out, but nothing big. Let me know. Thanks.
Jeff
sergs99m3 01-26-2004, 09:52 PM is it possible if u can bring the car over on wed at around 2??
Aguapolo17 01-26-2004, 11:28 PM I could bring it by on Wednesday, but probably not until like 3 or 4. I have to work, but I work over on the corner of Chapman and Harbor in Garden Grove. When would I get it back if I dropped it off between 2 and 3 on Wednesday?
sergs99m3 01-26-2004, 11:48 PM we can do it if you can drop it off around 2 or 2-30 and you can get it back like an hour or 2 after. so let me know here is my e-mail so write to me their and i will give u my cell phone number

Aguapolo17 01-29-2004, 04:33 AM I had my RTABs replaced today by Serg at his Uncle's shop. They did a great job, and I will be taking my car back there for anything I need done to my car. Just wanted to give them my praises.
sergs99m3 01-29-2004, 08:58 PM thnx alot man just seeing if anyone else is intrested
Aguapolo17 01-30-2004, 02:10 AM Hey Serg, I bought the oil pan from someone on the forums, so I'll be in there for that install soon. How much would your uncle charge to install my Axxis Ultimate brake pads
Aguapolo17 01-30-2004, 02:11 AM Hey Serg, I bought the oil pan from someone on the forums, so I'll be in there for that install soon. How much would your uncle charge to install my Axxis Ultimate brake pads? I'd like to possibly bring my car in tomorrow if possible. Tomorrow as in Friday
sergs99m3 01-30-2004, 03:48 AM ok let me call him tomorrow and maybe u can come in early in the morning we open up at 9 so maybe u can show up
Balthazarr 01-30-2004, 04:52 AM How long is this offer for RTAB's going to be honored?
E36Eric 01-30-2004, 05:42 AM Labor only is 175 to change the rtab's? omg, what a rip. That aint no hook up. I bet your uncle can do both in half an hour. Lift car, take off wheel, unscrew 3 bolts, swap out the old put in the new, put screws and wheel back, do other side, done. Thats 175? One hour of labor at my local independent bmw tech is $60. This guy has 15yrs experience from New Century bmw too. Changing the RTAB's for a shop shouldnt take more than an hour.
sergs99m3 01-30-2004, 01:28 PM if u go to any other shops in the area the are charging 3+ plus my tech is 20 yr experienced and if ur going to bust out and start yelling rip off u dont know what the fuk u are talking about so get the hell out of here if ur intrested in this let me know but dont be rude thnx serge
Serg - No more bumping it up please or I'ma hafta lock it up. This already comes dangerously close to unpaid advertising which is a huge bf.c no-no. Keep it as a tech fest and let it drop if no one else has anything to say. Thanks.

Your mech wouldnt happen to be John at EMW would it. I remember him mentioning he worked at New Century for awhile.
Aguapolo17 01-30-2004, 04:58 PM Serg's shop does a good job. He isn't ripping anyone off. One place said it would cost $400 for install! Thats pretty much what I have heard from everyone. Now that is a rip. Go to Car Emporium, Serg's shop if you need anything done, not just RTABs.
sergs99m3 01-30-2004, 08:41 PM hey agua thnx alot man well i gotta do what xoc says sorry man i didnt know so just try to find the post later guys thnx
serge
Sorry guys. I need to lock this on account of unauthorized advertising. I've pm'd Serg on the situation. No big deal, but it appears I made a boo-boo letting this thread go on so long.
