I want to look for a high milage car with a good body and use the money I save to have the engine rebuilt and any other repairs/mods I can afford. My budget will be about 20k day one and then the mods begin as I can afford it.

Any suggestions on where I should look for this car and shops to get the engine work done??

A good place to look includes the following:

www.turnermotorsport.com They have a good classified section

www.classifieds2000.com They have a classified section

www.autotrader.com

Check in the back of the roundel if you are a CCA member, and also check your newspaper, you never know.

I don't know of any good shops except for one in houston.

Good luck, it took me almost 2 years to find my baby!

LOL. Soft? What, pray tell, are you referring to? :)

I just completed a 3day racing school at Skip Barber and got a chance to drive a friends e30 ///M. I realize now that I care more about handleing & feel than grip & preformance. The main reason is the stearing feel is really soft on my e36 compaired to the e30.

Okay, gotcha. Yeah the M3's are turning more and more into luxo barges as the new iterations appear. Good for the majority of drivers out there, bad for enthusiasts like you.
