Hi All

Well, sways in diff diameter works in feeling like stiffer springs.

1) if i change the front bar from 24mm to 26mm, how much would it be, versa for a stiffer spring ?

2) for a good race setup, are stiff spring with factory sways or less stiff springs with big sways the way ?

3) for my feeling, real stiff springs with factory sways works very well, but where are the cut. 550f/650r or ........ ??????

I run 450f/ 550r with ACS Bilstein, they are stiffer then Bilstein Sports.
Sways 24mm f / 21.5mm r

Before, I had the ACS springs 350f /400r progressive
with sways 26mm f / 24mm r
The ride with this ACS is a lot stiffer then GC 450/550, Spezial in the rear.

But, i like the GC setup much more, because balance.

I have this springs since 2 weeks in my car, but for me, it could be stiffer.

You asked this question 2 days ago, and no answers. Well, thats because it is 3 tough questions, and the answers are very dependant. But I will try to help.

Your sway bar question is the easiest: 37.7% stiffer on the bar. The key is to remember that when you hit the brakes, the sway bar does nothing. So the old theories about soft spring/stiff sway are virtually useless.

second q: most fast race cars use "stiff" springs AND bigger bars.

Last q: Completely based on seat of the pants testing, I would say around 800 lbs/in rear to try no rear bar. However, remember where the no rear bar ideas came from; it came from cars that don't have good forward bite because of a rules restriction, small rims,or street tires (world challenge) or huge hp are all reasons that a no bar setup can work. But if you have medium hp and a decent tire (ITS, SP), then theer is no need to take away cornering speed to get forward bite.

Jay, thanks for your answers

I try to optimize (with a lot of GC stuff) for only r-compounds and street tire (i hope with some info from Hellabad).
car has about 300HP in five weeks about 320HP (euro M3 3.2).
The wight is 3000 lb tank full.

With my current setup 450f / 550r, should i take the tubular sways or are my 26mm f and 24mm r enough?

If i take the Tubulars, what would be the difference?

Jay, if You don't like to post here this very spezial Info, please email me You short response, thanks.

If you have the big of a powerplant and are planning to race, you might look into getting a bit more higher end suspension/chassis setup. Might look into custom sways, race dampers, much higher spring rates (800+). The settings on the dampers, spring rates,m sway bar settings really depends on track, tire, conditions, driving style, dozens of things really. You can't just write something down on paper and have it work perfect. Even when building/deisgning a chassis and calculating wheel rates, and spring rates, there are dozens of factors to be taken into account. Basically you'll need to play around to get a "very good" setup. Its VERY easy to have a poor setup, but its not too easy to get a really good solid setup that works everywhere.
