Hi every one! Just registered and am stoked to have found this forum! I hope to poke around in your heads for good info! i would like to know where i can get Mahle pistons at a reasonable price for my m10 block. My problem is i'd like to get at least 10.5-1 comp. using an e-12 or 1.8 cylinder head. So far it seems the only way i'm going to achieve this is by using custom JE forged pistons. The're pricy and are over kill for my type of racing, all i need are cast pistons. So i'm hoping some one has run into this situation and has found a solution.Or If youve found another brand of piston that works . Thanks .

the highest stock for an e-12 head would be 9.5:1. i am not sure what other pistones are offered by mahle. But that would be your only choice for reasonable priced stuff. You'll be able to get those for around $450 for a set. Custom pistons will run around $575.
Prices are from Ireland Engineering web site. http://www.bmw2002.com

Thanks Steve for the fast reply! I'm kind of residing to the fact that i'll have to get JE or Wiesco's if i want hi comp. i was hoping to use an open chamber head like the e12 or 1.8 head from a 318 because of the're better flow and less shrouding. i don't make huge power where forged pistons are necessary. Steve,
When I was looking for pistons for my E36 I checked all the places that had JE pistons for BMWs advertised. Guess what, they were all majorly overpriced.
Checked with my local machine shop and he found that he could get me the exact same JE pistons, direct from JE for about 1/2 of what the BMW websites were selling them for.
Give that a try... I think you'll be surprised.
Later,
John.
