i am sitting here looking at my Bentley manual for my 1994 325is with ABS+AST. it says, "For safety reasons, the brake system on cars with ABS/AST must not be bled using the procedures described in this repair group." it goes on to say that brake bleeding should be done only by an authorized BMW dealer.
anything special i need to do to bleed my own brakes? is there some special tools i need? thanx guys.:book:

here, I watch too many forums at once.....haha
Not true,
The secret to bleeding the brakes with ABS etc. is to bleed with the car running. you can follow the same procedure as the old cars. Pump, Pump, bleed. To make things easy and what the pro's use when you take it to the shop....use a pressure bleeder (like the one BMP sells.
7mm wrench
1st right rear
2nd left rear
3rd right front
last left front
don't forget the clutch slave cylinder.

this is a dumb basic question but I should ask it
right = driver?
left = pass?

called the stealer and they said that there is no need to take the car to them if it has ASC/AST. there are no special tools or procedures for these cars, and having ASC/AST does not effect flushing the brakes in any way. good call autox320.

I just did the procedure on my 328is, and dad's 525i. It was super easy with the pressure bleeder from BMP(no more wife pumping the pedal & bitching. hehe:128: . Don't be afraid to do it while the car is running. I tried without and coudn't obtain the best results (pedal seemed a little mushy).
